I completely agree. Long time reader, first time poster. It's going to be interesting to see how tomorrow shakes out.

Burke is really working the “old man yells at cloud” angle now.

He's actually one of maybe two oilers dmen I wasn't appalled by in viewings.
Just needs to play in a depth role.

Welcome!
At first I was scratching my head at Treliving, but picked up on something everytime the cameras panned to the flames trade hub. Zarys jersey was on display the entire time. You can see it the moment the camera pans to us for the 19th selection.
If we trade even the 80th pick for Hall's rights, that's found money and we STILL got our man.

No reason to make a bad trade though, there is still a lot of time

I was wondering if they were grabbing ammo to grab halls rights, if that happens and he is signed...is Johnny gone for a king's ransom? Also anyone have Intel on physical D-men available in this draft?

So Demko is Seattle bound then?

Definitely.
I'm not opposed to the idea of signing Hall and keeping Gaudreau for another year if possible too.

ROI. He's got skill, and a great contract. He can net some good prospects/picks, while signing Hall as a better replacement. In this day in age a good contract is worth gold and Gaudeau's $6.5 MM cap hit is very good.

A better replacement? No, Hall is a downgrade from Gaudreau.

No it isn't you can still trade him at the next draft before his NTC kicks in.

Or at the trade deadline. If he is having a monster year his value will be even higher.

I hear you, for me personally I'd like to get as much for him because he is a magician in the playoffs...he disappears without a trace, and hall should (in theory) be motivated to play for his hometown, and he has the size that's more well suited for the western style playoffs. and it would be so great just to stick it to the Oilers.

Next year he has a five team list though. He’d can force them to taking a bad Iggy-like deal or going UFA like Cammi.

I feel like his NTC would align with the teams most willing to obtain him as they know they can re-sign him. So it doesn’t really matter in my opinion. It’s hockey world public knowledge he’s heading to the north eastern US.

Still, the closer you get to that deadline, the more desperate you are and therefore the other GM drives the price down.
