nice thing with the 3rd is it's 71st overall with the coyotes forfeited pick taken into account, should add a decent player with that pick.

I wouldn't mind seeing them take a big swing with Lapierre though, the injury risk is big but that's a player that could be an NHL allstar, you're getting a top 10 talent with some risk attached.

Why can’t we ever pick up a 2nd when we trade down.

Oh my God, I'm tired of all the Treliving apologists. If it's so damn useful to have a 3ed rounder, why do we trade one for a depth rental that doesn't even improve the team every trade deadline?!

I would still do this move even if they hadn't made that trade (which was idiotic). Deep draft and getting good surplus value moving down three for a third at this point. Likely 3-5 players with little margin between them.

I feel the same way. Like some players are available that you weren't ready for, so you trade down.

That's what I think too. I'm guessing Gunler.

Three players that I had at 19 or earlier were Lapierre, Zary and Grieg. Guaranteed one of them to still be available at 22.

I want the Flames to take LaPierre, Zary or Bourque, in that order.

Yeah, super pleased with that trade because I’m pleased with their assessment of Braden Schneider.
