I maybe wouldn't count Domi out completly.
Columbus has been rumored to be interested in Gaudreau. Flames have long been rumored has having interest in Domi.
CBJ could potentially flip Domi here.

Both players are, and both are arbitration eligible.

Was never on board with trading for Anderson and I’m really glad we didn’t. This has major potential to backfire on Montreal.
It could work but I don’t think the asking price is worth the risk.

I think there has been a lot of undervaluing of Anderson around here, but I am still shocked that Montreal was the team that added.

If you're Anderson, and the Habs just acquired you for Domi + a 3rd, would you accept less salary than they were paying Domi?

Also depends on the arb case though. Having missed basically a whole season doesn't help Anderson that much.

Yeah I don't really get the argument that Anderson is going to be the cheaper player.
I mean, he SHOULD be (and still probably will be), but now he has a ton of leverage in contract negotiations.

True. But I doubt the Habs take him to arbitration after trading to acquire him. Will be interesting to watch.

Anderson also has the advantage of being 1 year away from UFA. He can just take the arbitration award and then go to the open market next summer. If the reported interest stays the same he will probably get big $ as an UFA.

Fair point, but that becomes a factor on what the agent/player will deem to be the dollar value they will settle for. Yeah, this will be interesting to watch on both fronts, especially if CBJ are able to get Domi on some sort of a deal.

Montreal lost this trade big time IMO. They probably would have lost even if it was Domi for Anderson straight across

What I will say is Bergevin has proven a lot of people wrong over the years with how his deals have turned out. The biggest being Subban where EVERYONE thought they lost and they clearly won. Could be argued a lot of times they didn’t get the best possible return but they always seem to win it in hindsight. I wouldn’t call Bergevin a genius but he makes some underrated deals. Their roster isn’t that good on paper but whatever they do seems to work alright.

It's clear that Anderson's trade value was well more than I thought, or perhaps Domi's was well less than I thought, or likely a combination of both.
But I doubt that Anderson can use the fact he was traded for Domi+ in his arbitration hearing.

Wanted the flames to trade for Anderson but not at that price . Thought a 2nd/3rd pick would get it done. Boy was I out to lunch.

I was onboard with bringing in Anderson at the right price. Perhaps overvaluing Domi, but would this be Bennett + 2nd deal from the Flames?
Edit: Probably more.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I think Anderson’s size and RHS was a big deal.
