I think in Lapierre's case, it says quite a bit. If he's going 100% and shows no sign of injury, it does answer a few questions and reservations.

Mukhamadullin has 6 points in 14 KHL games as a defenseman. 6'4. Quite interesting.

Gunler has 0 points in 4 games. Also interesting.

Haven't watched Liiga in ages but what it's worth: Kotkaniemi scored 29 points in 57 games in his draft year = 0.5 PPG and he went third overall. Lundell 28 in 44 = 0.64 PPG...

Lundell also wears an “A“, is in his second full year with HIFK in the sm liiga, as an 18 year old.

That is unheard of.

If Mukhamadullin lasts until our 2nd pick it would be amazing!

Lol, Pronman had Lundell sliding into the 20s, I'm extremely confident in saying he wouldn't get past Calgary in any circumstance. Heck, I'd be shocked if he slid down to 14 or 15.

Yeah only other guy I remember is Rantanen who also had an "A".

I think at least Minnesota, Winnipeg, Florida and Carolina all are potential landing spots for him before the Flames pick. After 15 probably every team is tbh.

Seems like free agents (Markstrom, Hall) are the first dominoes to fall....and I suspect we won't get much action from the Flames until they know if they are going to be able to ink those guys or not.

I actually think this year there will be some trading of picks to move up or down but as far as player movement goes it will be minimal. Just not the same when it isn't in person.

Most years I wish free agency was before the draft.

That's a risky strategy if they go 0 for 2, its off to plan B, C or D.

However I would guess that's the likely plan.

Fascinating article on yahoo on what the Leafs could do with their first rounder.
Per the article, they could, take a forward, take a defenceman, take a goalie, trade down or trade out of the round.....................Really, thanks for that insight.

I wouldn't be opposed to the Flames trading the 19th & 50th picks to swoop in and grab Anton Lundell if he's the guy they really want.

Yeah if Lundell is available he’s #1.

Lapierre is my favorite target, but I think he goes in the mid-teens.

Bourque’s counting stats point towards an elite player but I watched a highlight vid and wasn’t impressed at all. Xavier Bourgault (2021 eligible) is the real talent on that team. That being said 71 points in 49 games is future top 6 production.

I haven’t watched a Zary highlight vid, and his numbers are not as good as Bourque’s but I get the feeling that he will be the one putting on a Flames hat at 19.

Usually a late 2nd round pick (closer to 60 than 50) buys you 4-5 spots in the last 10 picks of the 1st round (so, moving from 28 to 23, or 26 to 21 etc).

19 + "50" (it is actually the 49th pick) probably gets you into the 15 range.

Carolina holds 13, Edmonton holds 14, Toronto holds 15 - all three of these teams strike me as teams that would be interested in picking up a 2nd round pick for moving down a few spots, especially if Askarov is off the board early and Carolina can't get him. Meanwhile E=NG and spent this year and next year's 2nd round picks on AA (hahaha), so they could want the pick. Dubas is always playing the numbers, and adding a 2nd in this case likely more than makes sense.

My brain completely pictured a full room of GMs and kids waiting to be drafted .
Until reading your post, I didn't compute that this obviously isn't a thing this year.
