I am hoping to get Lapierre but I get a sense his stock is rising quickly.
Of the players that may be available at 19 my list in order of preference is:
Lapierre
Jarvis
Amirov
Zary
Sanderson
Foerster
Bourque

The goalie goes higher than most projections.
There's a free wheelin', dealin' spotlight-stealin' GM in every draft.

It certainly sounds like Lapierre could climb, and Askarov now looks like a top-7 pick. Jarvis has pushed his way into the conversation around 10 alongside Lapierre. I wonder if Lundell really does become available at our pick like a few people now have him projected to be. I think we’ll be able to get one of Zary, Holloway, or Lundell - and that’ll make me happy.

My hot take is that Byfield will be a bit of a bust. Just looks too passive and not dynamic enough. People enamoured by size. My three would be Laf, Stutzle and Rossi, with Byfield going at 4.
Amirov already has 3 goals and 2 assists in 10 games in the KHL... wonder if this influences his draft stock for tonight. Thats pretty darn good for a 19 year old in the 2nd best league in the world.

Byfield is one of the youngest players in the draft - I don’t think he’s anywhere near bust territory, not a shot. If the Flames were drafting #1, I’d have legit thoughts on taking him #1 instead of the winger.

Looks like Lapierre has been climbing since the QMJHL got up and running again. Too bad, I really wanted the Flames to grab him somehow.
Zary would be a good consolation prize though.

If Lundell falls to us I will be dancing. But agreed that Zary seems very possible and is an attractive player.

I'll be interested to see how he does this year, I highly doubt he makes the kings or sens. I think his youth is a factor, but from watching lots of his clips I didn't find myself blown away by his abilities and felt like his brain wasn't processing as quickly as what you would expect from a guy going 2 or 3. I don't think anyone is near bust territory on draft day, I just don't think he'll be as amazing a player when its all said and done as people expect.
Stutzle is an absolute maniac out there. That level of skill mixed with compete is drool-worthy and he's been doing it against grown men in the tight checking german league. Wouldn't be a question who I'd pick at #2.

Im not going to lie, I know its hard on the players but such a short off season is a fans dream. Potentially only one month until training camp rather then a two month lawl after the draft and free agency is such a treat for a guy like me.

You think teams are changing their draft order based on two games played?

When the biggest question surrounding Lapierre was his injury history, yes. Teams were worried his vertebrae issue would hold him back, but he's looking like he's dominating with no setbacks or lingering issues. This guy was a surefire top 10 pick before his injury.
Sounds like Carolina really likes him at 13 when before the season started the speculation is he would fall to 15-25.

I too have concerns about Byfield. The little I have seen has suggested a Kyle Turris rather than a Mark Scheifele to me. Decent but not 1st liner. I would take Stützle also.
I would be happy to see Lundell drop to us as well though his high end may not be much more than Derek Ryan ultimately.
I have seen a lot of Swedes I like this year though I think Andersson and Lindholm have biased me towards Swedes. Nevertheless Wallinder, Grans, Niederbach, Torgersson, Heineman, Andrae, Garfvé, Tärnström and Nybek are all intriguing to various degrees.

Regarding Lundell, I respectfully disagree. 28 points in 44 games is really good in your draft year in the Liiga. It’s a good league. For example, Teravainen had 18 points in 40 games in his draft year in the same league

It's a point but it is looking at counting stats in isolation. Lundell got 2nd line minutes with 2 experienced linemates (Saarinen and Keränen mostly) plus powerplay time. Teravainen was a third liner on a powerhouse team (league champion)who got far less minutes and PP time.

I just hope Treliving not doing a Darryl move by trading down - turning a 1st round pick into 3 late round picks...

I don't understand how Seth Jarvis is only 18 on Bob's list. If he's available, run to the podium.

When Bob made the list he said that Jarvis is a threat to be taken top 10.

They should have just sent them all green sweaters and done some really bad green screen jersey overlays. Would have been fun.

My 12 year old son knows every kid in the first round. He'd been feeding me info on the top prospects. My work as a father is complete...
