Never kick the FG on the long side of the 2 minute warning unless its 4th down and more than 2. At best the field goal gets you chance to tie if you can make the 2 point convert. The 49ers had enough time and they knew they needed a TD. They used it poorly doing 8 yard passes down the middle. Even Samuel on the first pass could have gone out of bounds with a 17 yard gain and first down. He stayed in and got 8 more yards but it cost them an extra 15 seconds.
Beatherd should have run the 2 point convert as it looked like he would have had it. Than the finish would have been interesting.

good riddance. But should have happened much sooner, and it must really sting that they allowed him to first shaft the team by trading away Hopkins for spare parts.

Crazy to even allow O Brien to get to this point. What a colossal failure. Four games into a season to confirm what everyone already knew, fire him and see him leave behind a team in horrible shape. Awful management from the top down.

At least they were able to get a washed up RB on a terrible contract and a 2nd round pick for Hopkins. They could have just kept and paid him and how awful would that have been?

Or trade him for what he was worth. At absolute minimum, swap Johnson for a 1st rounder. This makes the 0-4 easier to swallow but unfortunately new GM now has to dig his way out.
Unfortunately my faith in Cal McNair to hire a competent leader just isn't there. Really hope he seeks advice from a respected football person in conducting the search. Ask Tony Dungy to consult or someone like that.

It is weird because TSN has been down for two hours almost. Usually broadcasters don't go down for that long. Their tech guys are usually all over things to get it back online.
