If I were CBJ I'd ride the 1a 1b tandem for another year to see if one of them takes the reigns and make the decision from there. But maybe they have already made that decision, we'll see.

Unless the Caps have given permission to Gudas to explore options early, it is tampering by the Leafs assuming it is true.

I know that, but this off season is a bit different. I was seeking clarification on how they could have an understanding with a player from another team.

If there wasn't an expansion draft coming, that's probably what they'd do. At this point, they need to explore their options to see what they can get rather than lose one of them for nothing.
Of course, like Pittsburgh prior to the Vegas expansion, they also need to weigh it against what they'll lose to Seattle if they do trade one of their goalies vs. definitely losing a goalie. If they do trade a goalie, they need to make sure the return makes sense from that perspective.

Well, I had thought the Hawks and Murray was the deal to go down after they shed Maata to L.A. guess I was kind of right.
Murray to CGY seems more and more plausible now.

I'm not sure how accurate CapFriendly is, but according to their ED simulator Elvis M is exempt from expansion.
