Amazing footage of a skydiver falling to what we would assume his death from 12,000 feet with a helmet cam.

What a terrifying thing. I would imagine most people's hearts would have exploded with massive influxes of adrenaline before they hit the ground - luckily this guy survives.

Hear about this on opie and anthony this morning.. that and MSNBC graphic taking up 1/3 of the screen... lol.

Amazing. At first, i was under the impression he had no chute... but the tangled one obviously saved his life by slowing him just enough.

He estimated that the mangled chute slowed him down from 120 mph to around 80 mph.

Still remarkable though, and it shook me up a little bit watching it. Not for the faint of heart.

That second video was unreal to watch. Seeing him go on a free for all down below, wow. To go 12,000 feet and hit the ground at 80 mph, I can't believe he survived that. I'm glad he did though!

i think they call this 'thundering down' - not the same as chuteless landing.

i've jumped a couple of times, thought it was pretty neat, but - that's enough.

statistically however as 'extreme' behaviour goes it's pretty safe, compared to bunjee jumping etc. - which i would never even consider.

something aboot signing a dozen waivers before you get on that plane however...

I did this Bungee Jump when I lived in Switzerland a few years ago. Pretty damn exhilirating, but don't think I'd do it again.

Betchya this guys got that idea in his head now... Something about near death experiences that make people enjoy ife (sanely) more...

/thought it was a better reference than 'Save the cheerleader... save the world'.

That's what I was thinking. Of all the places to land he happened to hit those shrubs. I am sure he was glad he was able to "see his life flash in front of his eyes", like he said and be even more amazed he could walk. I bet you there is a man who will be eternally grateful for everything he has in life from now on!
