Hard to say no to Domi and Tkachuk. If that doesn't give the team an identity, I don't know what does.

If the flames trade Gaudreau...I just hope the package (or UFA signings) include someone that can enter the zone. The team gotten lazy around Gaudreau entering the zone all the time, but at the same time we will be in for a rude awakening when Michael Backlund is our only threat for crossing the offensive blue line with possession.

We already have an elite zone entering forward who is never used because Johnny is the go to. His name is Elias Lindholm.

Well.....you need more them one player who can enter the zone. These robbing Peter to pay Paul strategies make no sense. Tampa Bay had Stamkos who is now approaching 31, they did not get rid of him, they just kept adding.

It seems like the Flames like Domi-type players. But Reinhart probably has a higher ceiling and generally has more consistent production.

I confess I’ve only seen Sam Reinhart play a few times, but he seems like the kind of player who, like Monahan, suffers from an inability or unwillingness to impose himself on the game.
Domi has that wrecking ball quality that could work quite well between Tkachuk and Bennett.
As CrownRoyal said, it sure gives them an identity.

Part of the rationale for trading Gaudreau is to afford Hall, so that’s two players. Dube and Mangiapane and even Backlund aren’t bad at entering the zone. I’d even wonder about Monahan’s ability if he wasn’t focused on using Johnny.

I can see the Flames having interest in both
Reinhart is a coveted right shot. Domi plays with an edge.
I would prefer Reinhart+8th overall to Domi+16th overall+2nd

A ton of misinformation about Domi here.. who outside of a few cheap shots and sucker punches is not a physically imposing or tough player to play against in any way.. He also lacks shift to shift and game to game intensity and consistency.
This is a player who had 41 hits in 81 games this season. To put that into perspective buttery soft Sean Monahan who everyone loves to dump on had 85 hits in 80 games.

The most exciting things to ask for from Montreal are Cole Caufield, Phil Danault and the three seconds.

Reinhart. Four seasons of 20+ goals as he's been a more consistent player and doesn't have the stink of his dad like Max does.

To be fair, to be rougher than Reinhart, you just need to scuff a piece of loose leaf.

we don't need to trade gaudreau to acquire Domi. We know Gaudreau is worth loads, and we can probably get a better deal elsewhere, but why not just offer sheet Domi? An offer sheet uses the year after draft picks, so we wouldn't lose anything from this year, plus, if his time really is over in MTL then Bergevin doesn't have much of a choice to let the player walk for a song, or match the offer for a player they don't necessarily want there.

Everyone except for Gaudreau himself who said he loves Calgary, could see himself playing there his whole career, and that there was no truth to him wanting to play back out East. But what would he know about it?

You think he would say he doesn't wanna play in Calgary etc? I think fans need to be prepared for a Johnny trade and I don't see it going well.

I don't think he would have gone to the extent he did to clear the air if he didn't mean it. Will he be traded? Possibly, if BT thinks the return makes the team better but I am really tired of people using the "he wants to play close to home so he won't sign here" to fit their narrative when it has been debunked.
