Laine at $6.75 long term I take every time, but he's an RFA after one more season and is probably going to want $10 million AAV plus. That's a different story.

Most players are not champing at the bit to pack up their lives and move anywhere, let alone to an expansion team.

Would you rather have Laine at $9M/7years or Hall at $7M/7years?

On the VAN/AZ trade talks involving Oliver Ekman-Larsson:
There’s chatter Brandon Sutter ($4.375M cap hit) might be part of a package to AZ. He owns a 15-team no-trade list, and FWIW I’m told AZ is not on that list.

If they offload Sutter you got to think they are adding a 1st (which they dont have) and a prospect of value

An exceptional goal scorer who has yet to mature and completely figure things out.
Because of the 1st part you live and work on the 2nd part if you can acquire such a player.
Rarest thing in hockey is a consistent 35-40 goal scorer....and he obviously has room to grow and get more complete as a 22 year old kid. I mean people rave about how Bennett isnt that old and not finished developing as a player and this guy is almost 2 years younger than him.
It would mean JG would have to go, though that seems inevitable to me anyhow at this point, and likely as part of any deal.
Just dont think Calgary has the assets needed to get Laine though and not convinced Cheveldayoff would move him yet either.

Why would they have to add a first? OEL doesn't have a good contract and Sutter is only owed 3.5m the least the Coyotes can do is take Sutter's contract

True, but if you want $25M, you may need to suck it up and take the chance you might need to live in one of the nicest cities in America.

Laine.....and not even close as far as who would be a better fit.
It still worries me to pay that much to a winger though when there is no elite C to work with him.

Johnny -BSM - Laine would be a pretty deadly top line.
As much as I hate to say it.

He’s 34.5 goals a year.

Well Laine for sure, but the problem is you have to give up a lot of assets to acquire Laine but can sign Hall without giving up any assets, so that makes it a much tougher choice.

Is adding OEL not cap suicide by Vancouver? Hughes, Petterson and Demko all RFA next off season, adding that contract is nuts.

If Bobrovsky is actually being shopped by Florida already, could that have a negative impact on the money other goalies might earn this offseason since the last goalie to sign for big money is already on the outs. Honestly with how big of a flop he has been and how tight goalies are actually ranked, I wouldn't even think of going above 6 million for any goalie.
