My prediction for goalies:

CGY -> Markstrom
COL -> Holtby
VAN -> Talbot
EDM -> Mrazek
CAR -> Fleury (Vegas gives them a pick to take the full contract)

My Predictions would be:

CGY - Talbot. Just don't see Markstrom passing up a chance at sticking with a young core. See Edmonton snapping up Holtby immediately and don't see the Fleury or Mrazek as an upgrade on Talbot who they go back to.

COL - Markstrom. Have the money and just need a goalie. They can overpay and not suffer from it.

VAN - Mrazek on a real cheap deal when Vancouver circles back much later.

EDM - Holtby. Expect a stupid deal for an average goalie.

CAR - Fleury

I just don’t see the Flames bringing Talbot - not with them actively checking in on every available goalie out there. That clearly shows to me that Tree has (rightfully) deemed that he needs to upgrade the position.

It is unclear what type of contract Holtby is looking for, but a deal in the three-to-five-year range worth north of $6 million per season is likely in the cards – it’s just a matter of where.

Salary cap.

While it can be done, the team would be hard pressed to address defensive and goaltending problems on the roster.

lol this COVID season/off-season. We've been talking in circles for about 6 months now.

I can't wait to see how it all shakes out.

I don't think Talbot is the first choice, but if Markstrom, Holtby, Lehner etc... Are all unavailable, he is probably the next best choice.
Hopefully those top UFAs get sorted quickly so if we miss them, we don't also miss Talbot.

It does need an upgrade, but I don't think Mrazek or Fleury is that. At that point, do the devil you know. You could easily flip-flop Mrazek and Talbot in my predictions. The Canucks are confident in Demko, rightly or wrongly. Other than Markstrom, who ever we are signing isn't being signed with the expectation of being the starter in two years. And even Markstrom is only getting a NTC after the expansion draft. Who ever they sign, if they sign someone and if it isn't Markstrom, will be signed later after other things are dealt with and likely at a lower rate.

I think that is when they likely pay the price and trade for Kuemper or Andersen I just don’t see the same tandem coming back next year. Our goaltending wasn’t the worst but it also didn’t steal us enough points in the regular season and wins in the playoffs.

The Talbot shutout in game 3 was more due to the Stars not being able to hit the side of a barn than Talbot

I would be very surprised if Holtby got anywhere near that.

Holtby and Grubauer were once a tandem. If they got song really well then I do think there could be a fit with the Avs.

I think this Twitter account is legit.

It's super hit or miss, but it definitely has some pokers in the fire.

If that's the case, the 1st is a 2021 pick, as the flames won't know how the UFA crop shakes out before the draft.
I have less of a problem losing the 2021 first, considering how deep this draft appears to be.

wow, what a dushey comment from Damien Cox in there:

"Not as difficult to win a Cup when there’s no road games, no travel. Still a difficult thing to win it all. Tampa gave lots of sweat and blood to make this happen. But let’s not compare bubble hockey with the real thing."

Are you shocked? Cox has always been a dweeb.

I'd rather play on the road and be able to see my friends and family than play in a bubble.

It's especially stupid when you consider that this might be the most level playing field we'll ever see for playoff hockey. All teams had exactly the same amount of travel (nearly zero) and had several months to heal up from the regular season. It was as fair as you can get.

I don't agree with him, but even on Calgary Puck, it doesn't seem to be an uncommon opinion. I've certainly seen more than a few posters call for an asterisk for this year's playoffs.

Taylor Hall

93
80
65

Those are his three best seasons in his career. Injury prone, defensively liable and a play style that will degrade fast as he relies on physical tools.

Does he get 10 million? We’re talking Brad Richards contract territory. He’s scored 30 goals ONCE in his career. He’s a 25 goal scorer in a good season. 30+ in a great season.

Great player and I’d love him on this team for the right money, that is under 7 million. He’s going to cash in on that 93p season though.
