Ray with 27 pitches. So they’ll be lucky to get 3 innings out of him. Looks like they’re going to burn through a bunch of arms today. For no fricken reason.

Well whoever it is, they should be fired between innings.

If it were the middle of the season, that would be different - you don't want to wear guys out

But it's the playoffs, it could be his last game this season. And it was 34 pitches.

The good news is that Snell is almost through the order twice, so he should be out of the game soon, right?

I know that they want Shoemaker and Ray to go 6 innings? Why? Why cant they go 7 or 8? Why cant it be 4 and 4 or 5 and 3. Is Montoyo allergic to the 7th inning?

What if Ray had not gotten out of the 4th or the 5th. Montoyo is an absolute moron who only manages in best case scenarios. And that best case scenario is limited at best. What happens if it goes south. We end up with using 6 or 7 pitchers in the first game of three.

That is precisely the problem with pre-set plans... there is no upside (in this case, getting a 4th inning), only downside.

It's peewee-level management.

It's basically saying: we don't trust your ability to make an intelligent decision, so we are going to pre-determine it.

Off the Montoyo f up, where are the bats today? Check swing here and there. Strikeout everywhere. They have discipline for the most part but they gotta pull the line or something.

Yes, he threw 54 and we don't know if he was sore or not after, then he also hasn't pitched in 8 days since. He also had a side session on Saturday(?) so depending how hard he went in the side session that would impact how many pitches he's be allowed.

Nah. I think it’s more Montoyo. This is the 5th season under Shatkins and we haven’t seen this type of game management before. I think this is Montoyo taking his Rays influence to the next level.

Snell is a stud. I think Montoyo conceded this game. Hes going to concede this game using 6 pitchers

We could see the conversation (even though we couldn't hear it), and that was not the face of a guy who couldn't keep going.

I don’t personally get it. Where does the 35 or 40 pitch count come from? I underhand he may have come in with a gameplan, but he should have scenarios. Especially when Shoemaker was willing to deal more. Just can’t accept when Montoyo plays this game often enough.

Also, the reports were that his simulated throwing on the weekend went well.

Again, I don't agree with it, I can just see where they might be coming from.

Because an athlete would never keep going even if they shouldn't? A player's reaction doesn't mean anything.

Hear what Siddell said? Great to have the bullpen go today cause Ryu can give you 7 or 8 tomorrow.

What if he doesnt? Ryu got to the 7th what? Once? This thinking is asinine.

We've seen gold glovers have trouble with pop-ups in that stadium, Vladdy has actually been playing quite well recently.
