When has GM Larping ever been that? This is basically the same for every iteration of every trade thread on every hockey forum. Why would you expect something else?

Friedman just said there is no way Buffalo trades Eichel this year they already paid him
7.5M this year.

Next year it could be different

Buffalo wouldn’t as likely the Rangers dangle 1st overall which would be a better asset than Monahan or Gaudreau for a team in Buffalos position

After 15 years on the forum, you should know by now that this is the thread where even the slightest whisper of a player being traded results in people speculating with trade proposals. This is the thread for it.

Also, why do you assume that you know who can and cannot be traded? Especially when denial by the player or agent is so frequent, it's become a cliche.

I think people need to chill and take a hint from the page number this thread has made it to

Gaudreau would likely have been paid his signing bonus too then, so he's making a very comparable 3.25M to Eichel's 2.5M. Just saying we might as well draw up the paperwork.

(Monahan's making 2.5M too...)

Lundqvist would be an excellent acquisition (of course, my team building philosophy prioritizes beauty but does not ignore quality, so I would like him as a backup).

I also think the apparent availability of Alexander Wennberg is something the Flames must look into. And hearing the availability of both OEL and potentially Letang, well... there are many avenues to improve the team this year via trade or free agency.

PepsiFree really wants the Flames to sign Mark Borowiecki but he can't bring himself to admit it.

If Borocop can play RD, I'm all for it.

He should not be the centerpiece of a trade, but understanding that salary needs to come back, is he unredeemable as a player, or is there some bounce back potential? I haven't watched him at all this year, but I assume he was bumped from the powerplay with Provorov/Sanheim/Myers on a fairly deep Philly blueline.
I would say it is questionable who provides better value for money, Ghost at 4.5 million a year for the next 3 years or Lucic at 5.25 million. That is the company that Ghost currently keeps in my opinion. The fact that he keeps being added as a centrepiece in a trade for a legit first line winger who is one season removed from a 99 point campaign and is on a good contract is baffling to me. Tre should fire himself at the same press conference that announces the Gaudreau trade if Ghost is a key component to the trade. The Rangers just had to add a 2nd round pick to get rid of one year of a bad Staal contract, not sure what you would have to add to move the Ghost contract.

It wouldn't be the worst idea ever, but it would have to be cheap.

He's one guy I haven't mentioned because I have no idea what he will get. He's coming off a really good year, he really seemed to grow into his role and excelled at it. But was that an aberration? What do you think he'll get? I really have no idea. Maybe 2-2.5 x 3?

The Rangers finally pull off a "Lindros-esque" trade 28 years later? Vesey and Fox could drown their sorrow's together...I so wanted to be a Ranger...than they traded me to Buffalo for a shinier toy.

The Rangers actually have made moves for these name veterans before, but outside of AV coaching them to some good teams have not really had much success with these moves. So I'd love to seem them make a deal like this, and have it blow up in their face.

I've watched a fair bit of Borowiecki from my time living in Ottawa and going to a few games. He's basically your prototypical bottom-pairing guy who isn't a great skater but who can rough guys up a fair bit. Pretty similar to Forbort honestly but I think Borowiecki is a lot better with the puck. I would happily replace Forbort with Boro and I think Boro would be a tremendous guy to have in the room and in the community. I think 3 years makes a lot of sense but the money could legitimately be anywhere from $1.5 to $3 million. Obviously if he's coming here I would hope it would be at the very low end of that scale.

He's also just kind of a goofy-looking guy. Which honestly just makes me want him a bit more.

I was looking at him like a younger left handed Engelland. I think he probably gets at least 2m, he did have a career year offensively and has always been that true heart and soul player. I think I would go up to 2m for him, but again, only if he can play RD

Ottawa has to pay some guys - they won't hit the floor if they try to run with 8 or 10 ELC guys. I would think Borowiecki gets re-signed.

I also think they will take on a dead contract or two to gain some assets.
