I see on HF there is a Rangers fan with inside knowledge that the Flames and Rangers have been discussing a DeAngelo for Lindholm swap dating back to the deadline.
Personally I think that is complete fabrication and has zero chance of happening. I want absolutely nothing to do with DeAngelo especially at the cost of our best value contract that still has 4 years remaining.

I am still maintaining hope for something like the below:
Gaudreau + Kylington+ 19 For Reinhart + 8 + Montour/Jokiharju
Gaudreau + Kylington for 7 + Zacha + Severson
Gaudreau for Necas + 2nd
first one in particular, but I am of the opinion Reinhart could have room to grow further.
However, I can see Buffalo pushing for something more like this:
Gaudreau+Hanifin +19 for 8+ Reinhart+Ristolainen

Ghost at half his salary might be able to live up to expectations. Might. I think that there was a moment in time where one dimensional offensive defensemen were given big contracts, but eventually stupidity is reined in, and there has been a realization that defense need to be able to play defense.

I would say some bounce back potential. When he's on, he's on. When he's off, well he's off. But he's gone through a bunch of coaches lately and isn't far removed from his 65 point season. Maybe just some confidence and consistency would help him but the skills are still there.
But he's the type that can sit as healthy scratch for two games, come in on the third and look amazing, then be so bad in the fourth that you need to sit him again. He has to be one of the most frustrating players to coach (and build a team).

Triumph the Comic Insult Dog has told this rumor where it can go. The Rangers desperately need a Lindholm type player, so they assume that other teams should line up to give them one.
Kakko + Buch + 1st

Why do the Flames massively lose every single one of these "rumours" propagated by supporters of opposing teams?

I like where you are going with this, but why does everyone want to get rid of Kylington? He has played right side his whole life before he got here, it is where he is comfortable and most effective. The Flames need right side D.
The only reason that players are forced to an unnatural side if it is the opposite wing, is because Mike Babcock decided that this is the best way to operate, and destroyed any player that couldn't adapt. At the time, the Wings were a powerhouse, so the rest of the league fell in line.
If Brodie is leaving, play Kylington on the right, and fix a roster problem right there.

It isn't really an outlandish statement.

It's also not absurd to think this is a result of a flat cap.
Also taxes are overexaggerated because there are loopholes that save Canadian players a ton and makes it so they end up paying less here than anywhere in the US.

I find just about every home fan base overvalues their players/prospects heck even their picks from range 7-15.
I like to look at the capfriendly proposals and its astonishing how some people react to some of trades.

100%. Since Gaudreau’s arrival in to this league, he sits top 10 in points. The only other players ahead of him are basically guaranteed hall of famers and considered greatest of this era.
Gaudreau is one of the most talented players this franchise, actually, the NHL has ever seen. If Treliving moves him. It has to be for an absolute bounty. The Flames can’t afford another Iggy/Bouwmeester screw up where they basically ended up with nothing in return.

I will definitely be handing in my fan card if they trade Lindholm. No way around that.

Bob McKenzie
@TSNBobMcKenzie
Imagine my surprise when I started making calls today and heard Jack Eichel trade rumours, including unverified chatter he may have at some point recently requested a trade out of BUF and that NYR were amongst interested teams. This, of course, required further investigation.
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
“I hear that (trade talk) a lot,” Eichel’s agent Peter Fish said. “Jack wants to win, he’s frustrated (not winning) but, no, he doesn’t want out. Jack is preparing to head to Buffalo at some point here and prepare for the season, whenever that may be. That’s all he controls.”
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
The messaging out of BUF is Sabres aren’t shopping Eichel, there’s no real desire to trade him, but since Kevyn Adams became new GM several clubs have called about Eichel’s availability. NYR believed to be one of the teams that called. So calls were made; calls were taken.
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
None of those talks with other clubs resulted in Eichel trade traction. But it’s also believed there has been dialogue between Eichel and BUF to ensure they both want the same thing (to get better obviously) and share the same timetable (sooner rather than later).
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
So, the face-value review appears as follows: Eichel doesn’t want out of BUF; BUF doesn’t want to trade Eichel; move along, nothing to see here. Fair enough. But some rumours are worth checking out/mentioning. Which I’ve now done. Now back to draft prep.

Have to imagine this is Buffalo's year to do something.

This would be consistent with small rumours of NYR's 1st OA being in play.
1st overall in a trade that lands Eichel in NYR.

They're cutting salary while their star is frustrated, to me - the writing is on the wall.

With it already coming out they want to cut salary? That might be when Eichel requested a trade (if he actually did)

To be fair, while they did cut salary in the Staal trade they also got a sizable upgrade. That's not nothing.

Yeah but aren't they one fo the teams where it came out they want a sub 70m budget? They are already at just shy of 50m in salary this year in just 11 contracts.
