Things I would like that are potentially realistic from Carolina:
- Their 1st
- Dougie Hamilton
- Martin Necas

I would probably accept Necas and a 2nd tbh. I think Necas is going to be good.

That's easily the worst Gaudreau proposal.

Just horrible.

Was thinking it might have been your podcast at first.

Would be right up there with your take that French Fries are a waste of potatoes.

Gaudreau-Aho-Svechnikov would be fun for Carolina fans I guess

That could be a pretty disasterous bottom 6 depending on how confidence is going.

Im a bit confused, I think your cap space would still work out if you kept Bennett in the fold, and it does bolster that bottom 6.

I think they'd be pretty Lethal with Gaudreau, but I would spread the wealth:

Teravainen-Aho-Svech
Gaudreau-Trochek-Niedereiter

Looks pretty killer tbh. A little on the small side but wicked fast.

If Markstrom would sign for 4.85, he would be a Canuck already. What makes you think that’s all it will take?

Same for AP & TH, you are significantly underestimating how much the AAV will be.

I'm pretty confident that neither Ruzicka nor Quine are centres on a playoff team, never mind a Cup contender.

I was interested when Ryan Donato ended up on the Trade Bait board for TSN. Rumbled through the other teams to see which players league wide have high upside and should be on the NHL club, but are not. These players are between the ages of 21-24 and are generally at the end of their ELCs. Some GMs, like the new one in Florida, are probably working to remedy this, but in the meantime there is gold in them dere hills. MH is mishandled, and B is blocked.

Buffalo - Casey Middelstadt (MH)
Florida - Henrik Borgstrom (MH), Chase Priskie (B)
Montreal - Noah Juulsen (B)
Toronto - Jeremy Bracco (MH)
Carolina - Jake Bean (B)
Minnesota - Ryan Donato (MH), Will Bitten (MH)

Jesse Pulujarrvi, Lias Andersson and Josh Ho-Sang (going the way of Honka)
Julien Honka (remember Honka!?)

Necas is really good, and only going to get better.

He's also on his ELC, expansion exempt and already playing in Carolina's top 6.

I don't see any way they would move him if you take all that into consideration.

Niederiter-Geekie-Necas was more of a 3rd line than a top 6 line, but yes i think it would definitely be a stretch for Carolina to move him.

21 year old RHS centre who had over .5 ppg in reg season and .5ppg in post season playing bottom 6 minutes. He's a perfect target for us.

I think Carolina might be convinced to move him in the right circumstances: of note, ownership there has been very clear about wanting to advance further in the post season and make another cup run. Though Necas is a good piece, there must be some allure to adding another offensive player of Gaudreau's Caliber.

Carolina sees Necas as the second part of a 1-2 punch with Aho. I can't see him being moved unless it's a big overpay. Geekie, Suzuki, Bokk, Keane and Bean are more reasonable targets, and even them they will hold onto pretty tightly. One of them and the Toronto 1st would be the basis of a deal, with Nino or Dzingal balancing out the salaries.

Necas would be a huge add, and based on contract, cap hit, draft exemption, I would be surprised if he would be available in a trade of two years of Gaudreau.

The Dzingel one is laughable. You can get comparable players in free agency at a similar cap hit without giving up any value. That is basically Johnny for a second....

I think they Carolina would be tripping over themselves to do that deal and they could likely keep Gaudreau longer than two years. He would be over 100 points on that team IMO.

Flames are the team with the proven top end player here
