I agree, he was getting hit and walking people with 2nd and 3rd best pitches. Let him go out there and light up that radar gun.
The biggest problem with the Jays starters is that they all pitch similar, 90-92mph fastball, change up, cutter/slider. Nothing over powering, Anderson, Roark, Strippling, Shoemaker all throw the same stuff at the same speed.

What is driving me crazy about the mistakes is that the coaching staff is tolerating it.
Montoyo is supposed to be a 'teaching' manager. But after the play, he doesn't go talk to Bichette, instead, Bichette is joking in the dugout with Hernandez (or whoever it was).
You can't just sit there and hope that the mistakes stop on their own. You have to demand a culture of excellence.
