A trade around Hanifin for Dumba makes sense to me.
23 year old American for 26 year old Canadian (and Calgarian).
Left shot for right shot.
3 x $4.95M remaining for 2 x $6M remaining.

To be fair, he hasn't really done that sort of stuff in at least 4-5 years has he?
Not that I think anything of DeAngelo, but there are probably a decent # of Trump supporters in the NHL. Lehner is/was one, if I recall correctly.

Maybe Hanifin asked for a trade, or maybe the Flames aren't really that high on him anymore. It's also possible that the Flames are VERY high on the Valimaki/Mackey duo and see Hanifin as a guy they can utilize to upgrade the roster in other places, or at least clear cap space to do so.
I know some here think he's going to be a top pairing D, but I just don't see it. He's fine for what he is, but if he's on your top pairing your defense is not very good IMO.

young and cost controlled for 4 more years. A great asset to keep or use as a trade chip

I think Hanifin played well in the bubble, so I'm surprised if he's on the block

If this true our blue line has been completely dismantled.
Gone : Brodie, Hamonic, Hanifin, Stone, Forbort, Gustafsson
I have a feeling that Hanifin is being shopped for a top 6 forward and the Flames get OEL and Kuemper in a separate deal.

I watch the Rangers regularly, and the Only knock on DeAngelo is that he doesn’t play defense.
Funny liberal Canadians never see their Racist (Black Faced) President as a horrible person.

I see that as almost a fair trade, maybe we add a pick. But he is younger, cost controlled and still has a pretty high potential.

Does anyone know what exactly was said about Hanifin?

I would love something around Hanifin for Robert Thomas
Blues need to replace Pietro, and Thomas is stuck behind ROR and Schenn

I'd love this, but why is Minnesota trading Dumba? (I honestly don't know, I'm just curious if Hanifin fills a need or if they want to trade Dumba for forward help)

Then something will go down soon if thats the word on Hanifin. Info like that never gets out and then percolates for weeks.

We should have all known Hanifin was eventually going to leave when he was rumoured to be in the package for Hall. (players don't take kindly to almost being traded, example: Brodie)

Yeah I could see this being the end result as well.
I just hope we're not trading away our 1st.

well they'd save some $ (cap space) if it was in fact just 1 for 1.

The Wild just locked up Brodin long term and also have Suter signed long term. That's their top two left shot Dmen, they don't need Hanifin. They're also rumored to be looking to trade Dumba to lower the money on D and shift it to the forwards.
