Was Maloney still in Arizona when they traded for DeAngelo?

Why are all the rumoured trades involving the Flames so gross? Why does the media think we are so interested in taking everyone else's garbage? What's next, Gaudreau to Edmonton for Neal?

TheScorpion is a left winger, DeAngelo is a right winger.
Also, reports are that DeAngelo was a jerk in his junior days. Also, DeAngelo doesn't play defense. Also, it's fishy that he has been on so many teams.

Makes sense. Should have just googled as well. He does sound like a jerk.
From Wikipedia:
Quote:
DeAngelo has been involved in several incidents related to his personal conduct on the ice. In February 2014, DeAngelo was suspended eight games for violating the OHL's harassment, abuse and diversity policy after using a slur against his own teammate. [23] Additionally, the article which confirmed the suspension mentioned this was the second time DeAngelo had been suspended by the OHL for violating the harassment, abuse and diversity policy, though it did not detail the first incident. In November of the same year, DeAngelo was suspended one game for abuse of officials. [24]
While playing for the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL during the 2016-17 season, DeAngelo was again suspended for abuse of officials (though this time for three games). [25]

Sounds like exactly the kind of character the Flames don't want.

He’ll fit in great! We haven’t been able to fill the abuse of officials slot since Wideman left.

To be fair the Eklund guy didn't say the Flames have specific interest in him. He said he was available, and the Flames have interest/need for offensive dman.
So he's connecting those dots as opposed to reporting specific interest from the team.

If they are even “taking calls and not listening” on Barkov, you give up whatever they ask for for him.

He's an arrogant Trump supporter who calls his teammates racial slurs. I don't care if he's a right-winger but DeAngelo is an outspoken supporter of a hideous President. Plus he's awful at defense.

It would not surprise me if players on our own team supported Trump. If you're an extremely wealthy american his tax policies are dramatically favorable for you.

Pls for the love of god let's not talk american politics here.
CP is literally one of the only places to come on the interweb where we dont have to see or talk about politics.

2019/2020 Trade Speculation and Rumors 2.0
Did I hear on the Fan 960 that Hanifin is almost as good as gone? Crain Custace or something has all but guaranteed it. Chris Johnston also heard his name out there upon the Flames’ elimination from the bubble.

Flames need an offensively capable top 4 right hand shooting Dman, and that's exactly what DeAngelo is. The guy was on pace for over 60 points last season, and he's 24 years old an an RFA so his contract is likely to lock him through most of his prime years.
Acquisition cost would be the big issue here, plus he's not great defensively and the previously mentioned character issues. Probably looking at $5.5 million AAV as well.
