I'd love to see examples of this claim. Please I'd love to hear about all the teams that have had great success gifting top 4 spots to 22 year old defensemen that have less than 30 games experience and have not played in 18 months. Because I seriously doubt its validity.
No one is questioning his raw skill, or if he is coachable; the question is how being off for over a year and a half has impacted his development.

Yeah, that makes sense that a lot of teams will be on the fence waiting to see what Tampa does, and even the Isles. Tampa is up against the cap before they sign their key RFA's, and the Isles will be over the cap once they sign their key RFA's.
Both teams might be moving some good players this off season, and we may even possibly see a big Aho style offer sheet or two as well.

Well that's a fairly unimpressive list if you ask me. Would have to have some big sweeteners involved to take on most of these guys.

Tyler Johnson might be a cheap guy to acquire, and who might also benefit from getting a bigger role on a different team. Right hand shot, plays both wing and C.
Small though.

Not sure I would consider any of these “trade bait”. Closer to camp dump than anything of value in my opinion. I mean including RFAs that may not get a qualifying offer? Bishop is about it for me.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Yeah I kinda want Tampa to win it all so that they are more inclined to move some pieces.

Would have been nice to have Bishop 4 seasons ago.
Sometimes it really sucks being the fan of a Canadian based team.

I’m looking forward to signing Price as a UFA when he’s 42.

Yeah remember when I said Gaudreau if available would be the most valuable player on the trade market...well there you have it

Monahan has outscored Ehlers every single year except last year and plays a more important position. Same for Boeser (except Monahan outscored him last year as well). Boeser being younger and a RHS is a little more valuable, but still not a centre.

yup Tampa's big problem with clearing cap this summer is basically all of their mid-range forwards control their own destinies.
Palat - full NTC
Johnson - full NTC
Gourde - full NTC
Killorn - 16-team NTC
and even if they wanted to go bigger with a guy like Stamkos, he has a full NMC

Completely agree. Monahan's shot is a rare skillset. I think the Flames would be better off finding him a passing winger that will battle in the corners. Lindholm does this well but it isn't in JG's toolbox. JG used to be more dynamic in the rush but teams seems to have figured out how to defend him effectively.
The few looks we've had of Tkachuk and Monahan together looked like dynamite to me.

Yep, next off season though it changes to a limited NTC so knowing that next year he has less control on where he goes he may be willing to waive if the Bolts can make a deal with a team he'd really like to go to. (Probably not a Canadian team).
Or maybe he waits for a season and let's them trade him to a team on his list, or hopes he gets taken in the expansion draft by the Kraken in his home state.

You guys are still responding to the grit index kid? Gluttons for punishment the lot of ya.
With all the conflicting info regarding who may be available or on the market I’m interested to see what actually happens. I imagine it will be a few weeks at the least before the Flames do anything of note.

They won't. It is fun to watch the media spin all these rumours about Monahan and Gaudreau moving because it makes for plenty of clicks and attention for them. The reality is neither of those guys are moving his offseason, it isnt happening unless someone makes an offer BT can't refuse.
