Hall - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Gaudreau - Backlund - Mangiapane

Outside of two players playing their wrong positions and the cap. If the Flames miss out on Hall then the top 6 would be way worse.

Only sequence that makes sense to me is trade Monahan for Dumba and then Gaudreau for a center. No idea what good centers would be available for Gaudreau.

The only other thing is if they commit to Lindholm as the #1 C and trade Gaudreau for Konecny or Laine (lol) but I don't really like gambling on Lindholm being a #1C.

Also, trying to justify a trade by adding Hall as a FA signing is all kinds of wrong.

The trade has to stand up on its own, or it's a bad trade.

Sign Hall anyway (or don't), but don't use that to try and atone for a terrible trade.

Also mentioning Backlund and that has me a lot more intrigued. Backs NTC is just a 10 team list from a full NTC last year.

Steinberg and Nault don’t think Backlund is really an option. Back to Monahan but they want more coming from the Wild.

Yes. There's value in clearing cap, but we can evaluate that based on the trade alone.
There's no need for signing projections.

Monahan for Dumba would be straight up murder. They have to add their 1st to make that deal make sense.

Monahan + 49th for Dumba + 9th? Sure.

Monahan for Dumba? Hell no. 2nd pairing defencemen are available every damn summer.
