I had read that the Sony was planning on pricing the PS5 higher than $499 and had to cut prices to match Microsoft's pricing. No matter what side of the fence you are on it's a reminder that competition is good for the consumer.

^^^^^^
Hopefully they also match the more aggressive Canadian pricing.

Everything I've read in rumors is that Sony was going to go $399 / $499 for the digital and disc editions respectively.

So we will see if that ends up being true. I could really see them trying to hit the $399 USD price point that was so successful for them with the PS4.

Edit: I also feel like they may have more of the digital version available at launch, fewer components and a good way to push people digital

They won't be able to keep a $399 PS5 on the shelves

Usually I have no interest in consoles on day 1, but with PS5 having backward compatibility with performance increases for my existing library I may end up pre-ordering

Sony having manufacturing issues. Poor yield during manufacturing has them now aiming to have 11 million units shipped by end of March 2021, instead of 10 million by the end of 2020.

That still seems like a lot? It took PS4 nine months to sell 10 million units and it was a big hit.

It's still a lot. Important context would be that the number they're reducing from was the number they increased to due to extra demand thanks to COVID.

So, they're essentially back near where were planning pre-COVID.

Brace yourselves for defective units as manufacturing rushes to meet orders.

The $399.99 USD price point is super attractive and I think this gen I'm ready to go fully digital

Think I own like 3 physical PS4 games at this point

Yeah, if they go with $499 cdn like Xbox is doing then that's excellent. Hopefully they don't do a direct exchange rate price.

EDIT: Actually the exchange price is only $527 right now, so unless our dollar takes a dive in the next couple months that's fine.
