The Cup is a team trophy and while he had a good career I can't think of many offensive forwards who scored well less than 1000 points while playing over 1000 games.
Look at how long it took Lindros and he was a much, much better player.

I'm fully on the Dallas train. Always liked Benn and Radulov and that interview with Rick Bowness sealed it, he seems like such a kind-hearted man.

Wow Dallas. Gotta be because of the Head Coach’s proven winning track record.

Khudobin looks a LOT better than he looked against Calgary. I though he was pretty terrible actually, and against Vegas he was just crazy good.
It will be interesting to see how they stack up against a more talented team in Tampa I guess.
|
Vegas takes a lot of shots from everywhere...their high danger chances are nothing special. 9-9 this game. Khudobin was solid but he wasn't standing on his head or anything other than a short sequence in game 4
9-9 high danger this game

Okay. I'll rephrase it - Khudobin looked fine a lot here, perfectly adequate, and sometimes brilliant, with a lot of battle. I thought he looked like a fish out of water against Calgary, and I put a lot of the goals Calgary scored on that - with average goaltending, I thought Dallas would have crushed the Flames.

Vegas blew a 3 goal 3rd period lead last season to be eliminated and a 2 goal third period lead this season to be eliminated

For me, it's tough because it's not like the Stars have found another gear these last two rounds. Or, some players got hot or Khudobin got hot.
They have not played an appreciably different or better game or style since the Flames series. They have just been consistent and methodical and wait for the opponent to make mistakes, which itself is a a solid trait. And, stayed away from injuries.
12 seconds of game 4. Tied going into third period of game 5 with one point shot getting through that didn't get through for the Flames. A terrible decision by the coach in game 6 in a tie game. Any one of those situations goes the other way and who knows. It may not have been Calgary winning the west but it certainly wouldn't have been Dallas.

Its a fine line in hockey obviously...people around here seem to bend over backwards though...Flames lost they need to improve but
first its "Dallas sucks the Flames are just brutal, lost to the worst team in the playoffs and Avs will pound them"
Now its "Dallas must be playing way better now ect."
just stop, Flames need to improve but they lost to a good team obviously
Dallas would have pounded the Canucks by the way!

VERY easy to have a different view on those guys and that team.
Bowness seem all class but I think he runs a dirtbag circus on that bench.

It's so strange how you've created a narrative that was never widely mentioned, you keep repeating it, and then say "just stop".
You're literally arguing with a self made counter viewpoint.
At best, you're cherry picking 1-2 posts of thousands and acting like that was widespread commentary around here when it never was.
No one said Dallas sucks. No one said the Flames didn't lose to a good team.
What people did repeatedly say is the Flames top players didn't show up, now 3-4 years in a row and that's not good enough.
Just stop with the self fabricated arguments and address actual viewpoints.

lol really? Tons of posters said they were not a good team and the Flames got and easy match up...then
Avs were gonna pound them
Vegas was gonna pound them
One or two posts give me a break...even now as they go to the finals it has been suggested that Dallas only started playing good after Calgary
I have said 1000 times the Flames weren't good enough and need to upgrade
Take a 2 second search of the couple pages of every one of the Dallas Stars 3 series threads...not too flattering towards them trust me

No sympathy for Vegas. Don’t like Dallas either, but ok with these guys not advancing to another finals.
