Of course not. But here we are, once again responding to another one of squiggs96's weird obsessive rants directed at TheScorpion.
It gets tiresome.

Hey now, I'm the first one to admit that my bracket sucked big-time. Total bust. But it totally was a lighthearted joke though directed towards the multiple people who (also lightheartedly) called me out in the bracket thread specifically for picking Dallas to go to the SCF. That's the context and I apologize if it wasn't clear but it also wasn't really directed to you or the other poster who quoted me.
Can't we all lighten up instead of taking everything so seriously all the time? I'm tired of sparring over Joel Edmundson and Geoff Ward to no end. I am more than happy to look silly instead of grumpy or pedantic.
Aaaaaaanywho. I think the Knights still make a series out of this but Dallas will take it in 6. A Tampa/Dallas final would be really interesting. A Dallas/NYI final might be the lowest-scoring final in history.

Lol. Wasn't aware of that dynamic. Maybe squiggs would be more receptive if Scorp was less deceptive.

Oh no, Scorp might have bragged about his Dallas pick. How silly. Whatever will we do.
Please. I don’t know who would see that post and feel the need to pick at him over it. How old are y’all? I’ve seen guys get less flack for bragging about a fart.

Taking two from the eventual champs and having them on the ropes late to go down 3-1 makes it easier to feel not so bad
But I just have a feeling that's exactly the excuse the Flames are going to use to not make the necessary changes for going forward as well as extend Ward...
And the possibility of that is irksome.

Thing is that Flames being in a close series with Dallas is true. It's what happened. Its not an excuse for anything. It is simply reflective of the reality that the margins are extremely thin at this level, and the Flames have a decent team.
Changes will be made. Maybe next year we will get a better result.

This is an oft-ridiculed point, I see, but IMO it has some validity. More so, though if other teams have very similar issues against them (which I don’t really see in this series).

Need to find a way to get a little bigger and a little tougher without shedding on the skill front.
It's interesting that Lucic helped our cause far more than previous "skill" adds when it came to playoff performance. Seems that players that can intimidate and lean on you aren't going out of style after all when it comes to the big games.
Minimal contact skill players become more irrelevant at this time of year.
That's not to say that skill-first players can't be successful, but they have to get their nose dirty to keep producing. Guys like Pettersen were willing to take the contact in order to find the net.
Johnny was not. Maybe a tad towards the end, but it was too little too late.

Just don’t see many small skilled players in the final four. Speed, grit skill is the formula it seems.

Lucic, Bennett and Mackinnon, big gap between the latter and the former two in terms of skill, but all are effective players in playoffs because they share the grit factor.
Will push, will lean, will hit and drive the net when the big games come around.
That's why the kind of slow yet bruising teams of LA from 2010-2015 could squeak in as an 8th seed and suddenly dominate for lengthy deep runs. Had the right DNA for big boy hockey, but maybe not necessarily an excess of pure skill that would ever have them flirt with the president's trophy in the regular season.

Jesus if it’s Dallas and TB in the final I don’t know who to cheer for. Zero love for TB after 04. But the alternative is a team with Perry, Benn, Pavelski, Radulov, Comeau and cogliano (Oiler/duck alumni). Jamie Benn sounds like the dumbest hockey bro ever. No multiple syllable words spoken.

Yeah it’s fair to notice who the Fames lost to and how far they progress. It’s more the accumulation of playoff performances by this group that leads to the current mood IMO.
Fact is, there are good teams in the playoffs and some get better as they go deeper.

What I see with Dallas is that they've been able to adapt their game well to different opponents and different games. They haven't just played one style all playoffs long. That versatility is a big part of the success they've had so far.

The formula seems to change every year. Point is a smaller guy still going. He's arguably the most important player for Tampa.

This year it’s outside speed. The Flames lacked that except for Dube and Reider, and of those two only Dube has offence (though tbf they both got 5 points in 10 games).
Frankly, the Flames production postseason wasn’t that bad.

When I was younger I played for and managed a company sponsored B Fastball team.
I went to the GM of the division and asked if he could be sure to ask about pitching experience when he was doing interviews.
His respond "Oh I thought you said "bitching" experience" and I've hired lots of those.
Strings like this remind of that.
I get a real laugh out of how earnest some guys are here with their fantasy trades and now "change the coach" that's the secret. Revolving doors on coaching ALWAYS works LOL
