How do you not get Kirk an at bat in a blow out game? You'd think that'd be a good time to get the jitters out of the way with no pressure no?
Anyways, nice to see Giles back, and still with his swing and miss stuff racking up 2 K's in an inning. Couple hits and a run, but he'll find his groove.
Also nice to see Borucki with a quiet effective inning.
Good news is that while the Yankees won both their games, it was at least against the Orioles, so we didn't lose any ground on making the playoffs and the Tigers have also seemingly cooled off and remembered that they're the Tigers.

Apparently Ryu does not start today, its going to be Ray today and Ryu tomorrow? Might be Kirk getting the start behind the plate today as well.
Shi Davidi mentioned in his article today that the Pirates wanted Kirk as part of the return for Musgrove.

Also in Davidi's article, the Jays are second worst in the majors in defensive runs saved at -30 and they also lead MLB with 22 outs on the bases.
It's really amazing that they are where they are in the standings despite those two numbers.
Gonna have to clean that up, wow.

"Thank goodness there is a chance that Teoscar Hernandez and Rowdy Tellez might it back in time for the playoffs"
There's a sentence I would have never guessed I'd be typing 2 or 3 months ago lol.

Holy crap, Tellez is on the bike already? Watching him watch with those crutches had me certain he was done for the year. Teo hitting off the tee is promising as well, maybe we get him back for the final 2 series.
Getting Bo back is absolutely huge for this team right now.
I can't wait to see what this team might look like healthy in the playoffs.
1. Biggio (Left, 2B/3B/OF)
2. Bichette (Right, SS)
3. Grichuk (Right, OF)
4. Hernandez (Right, OF)
5. Tellez (Left, 1B/DH)
6. Guerrero (Right, 1B/3B/DH)
7. Gurriel (Right, LF)
8. Jansen (Right, C)
9. Villar (Switch, 2B/3B/SS)
Starting Pitchers (4) - Ryu, Walker, Ray, Anderson
Bullpen (9) - Giles, Romano, Bass, Stripling, Borucki, Pearson, Dolis and 2 of Merryweather, Kay, Cole, Yamaguchi, Hatch, Roark, Shoemaker
Bench (4) - Kirk/McGuire (C), Panik (2B/SS), Shaw (1B/3B), Davis/Fisher (OF)

Yeah, their lineup, when healthy, is pretty deep. I would replace Villar with Panik, personally, and he can play 3rd.
I also think Grichuk needs to slide down to the #7 spot, behind Gurriel

I would go with this lineup:
Biggio 2B
Bichette SS
Hernandez RF
Tellez 1B
Gurriel LF
Gurerro DH
Grichuk CF
Jansen C
Panik 3B
Ryu
Walker
Ray
Villar comes off the bench for speed, but he makes way too many mistakes to be in the starting lineup. Only need 3 starters for the 1st series.

I would put slide Panik into 8th, but otherwise fully agree

A lot of good looking pitches that haven't gotten the umps's attention so far
Solid first inning regardless

What we have seen from Villar is pretty much in line with who he has been through his career. He still brings value as speed off the bench and his ability to switch hit.

Why do they insist on having Shaw batting 3rd? There just isn't any reason he should be batting above 7th in this lineup.
With no Tellez or Hernandez, Gurriel should be hitting 3rd.

He is very similar to Carlos Gomez in that regard.

That grunting has to be distracting as a hitter.
Ray looks good so far.
