I know we disagree on analytics, but Virtanen is an actual disaster on ice. There's a reason why the Canucks are (apparently) abandoning him. We should steer clear of it. He's also, going on the social media stuff that has been mocked endlessly on reddit and twitter, a completely unlikable goof off the ice.

I want no part of Virtanen. His shooting percentage jumped up to 12% this year when his previous years are 9.7, 7.7 and 7.4. He's a bad hockey player. There's a reason the Canucks GM openly hammered him in his media availability.

Again, don't understand the Simmonds hate. Guy brings leadership and plays with a ton of heart. Is finally healthy after playing through nagging injuries for 2 years. A better version of Lucic, who has shown he can still play. Whoever signs Simmonds will be pleasantly surprised.

If Virtanen was a free asset then I’d be interested in a 1 year deal that saw him get some time on a Dube - Bennett - Virtanen line. Maybe I’d consider a Jankowski RFA for Virtanen RFA swap but still not quite sure. Personally I think Jankowski has shown more and at least provides valuable PK minutes and is a natural Center.

I’d want neither Jankowski nor Virtnanen - there’s a reason both are likely going unqualified. They are bad 5v5 hockey players. Virtanen does nothing to improve this team. I’d sooner spend the money on Colin Blackwell or evening Tomas Jurco - or better yet, Tobias Rieder.

What exactly is Virtanen doing on social media? Is he out partying and just generally being unprofessional?

If so, I want nothing to do with that in the Flames locker room. Don't need that kind of influence with the young team.

I’m with ya ComixZone; I hope we finally make a bold decision and bring in a high end player via free agency like Hall and go all in with this core before settling for another 3-5 year rebuild where we don’t commit to a scorched earth approach and remain mediocre which doesn’t allow us access to the elite first rounders and ends up giving us smaller windows when what we end up getting during the rebuild finally matures. The last 2 eras have been maddening as Flames fans and I crave even just 2 consecutive years of dominance just this one time lol. GOFLAMESGO!!!
