Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Monahan, Backlund, Lindholm should all lose 30 seconds as it stands.

Take 30-60 seconds off Monahan's total and put Dube in his spot. Take Jankowski's 8:56 a night and give it to Lucic. Then take Lucic's 11:47 and add 30 seconds, and give it to Laine. Take Ryan's 12:08 and add 60 seconds and give it to Hall.

No team does it because no one runs three lines that have that much fire power - but the model is Tampa Bay. We're playing our top players too much if you compare them to Tampa's, and that's because Tampa's depth is so good. That's where we need to get to.
Your math is off. Look how little Dube, Lucic and Bennett/Ryan got. There's a three minute difference.

TB doesn't even run 3 lines that way.

God no! The Jets would be laughing all the way! Laine is going to command big dollars and has publicly stated he doesn't practice in the off season and there have been many reports he spends all his time playing video games. People gripe about Gaudreau fading because he had a crap diet when he came into the league yet want to trade for this guy? There is a reason the Jets are looking at dumping a young player that has scored 40 goals. He is going to regress fast and his give a F meter is zero unless you are playing Fortnite with him.

Shifting gears entirely, but how about some euro signings?

a few that pick my interest are:

Julius Nattinen- 23 year old 6'3 centre drafted by the ducks originally. 3rd highest scorer in Liiga last year. Seems to have really developed a goal scoring touch.

Eemeli Suomi- 24 year old forward who saw a dramatic jump in production this year, leading the next highest skater on his team by double digits in points and placing second in Liiga in scoring. A little short but stocky.

Kirill Semyonov- 25 year old centre playing for good ol' bob hartley in the KHL. Highest point scorer for Avangard last year, on a notable upwards trajectory and decent international showings.

Big pass on Wayne Simmonds for me. 5 years ago I’d have loved to have him but he reeks of another Brouwer or Neal type signing.

Sign Semyonov but he has to only wear the Avangard jersey.

Signing Simmonds would not be like Brouwer or Neal. There’s no way he get that type of term or dollars.

If he came here on a one or two year deal at about 1.5 per, i would be fine with that. Regardless, I don’t see it happening. He wants to be East I believe

Simmonds just isn’t a very good player anymore. I don’t think he should be of any interest at this stage.

I keep circling back to Josh Anderson.

He should be exactly the low risk / high reward type of player to target. Fills a need we don't have (young and a combination of skill and size). After a dreadful and injury filled season, his cost should be low. Plus he and Columbus don't have a great history when it comes to contract negotiations.

I'm also interested in signing Hall if possible, and/or trading for Domi. Acquiring Dumba is also intriguing for the right cost (Hanifin?).

Either way, moving some money out will be important. Only a couple players come to mind, and with Bennett playing great as a centre, I have to think Ryan is expendible.

Ryan + Kylington for Anderson? Is that reasonable?

I've seen Anderson for a 2nd+ speculated, and Ryan for a 3rd spit-balled as well.

I’m also intrigued by Domi, but he, like Bennett, has let it be known he wants to play C. The problem with Domi in Montreal is that they are playing him on the wing as their top 2 are set up to be Kotkaniemi and Suzuki. Unless something else happens, I don’t think there’s a fit here.

Love the thought of Anderson changing scenery with us but would hope to keep Kylington; especially after reading the Dumba for Hanifin swap a poster drew up like you mention as well that I could get behind. I’d pay the Ryan + 3rd price tag for sure; sign Hall then it’s just a matter of figuring out Domi as I too think he has more consistency to show in his game and could be had on a really good deal for 6 years when he reups.

Ryan + 3rd for Anderson
Hanifin for Dumba + ??? 3rd or 4th???
Mangiapane + ??? for Domi

Hall - Monahan - Tkachuk
Gaudreau - Domi - Lindholm
Bennett - Backlund - Anderson
Lucic - Dube - Phillips
???

Giordano - Andersson
Valimaki - Dumba
Mackey - Kylington
???

???

Yeah, I like the idea of Domi but not sure how the fit works like you said.

Mangiapane for Domi
Monahan + 19th for Cozens + 8th

Centre depth: Backlund, Domi, Bennett, Cozens, Lundell (8th OA)

Considering the Jake Allen trade, it seems like there could/should be a path to resolving that situation without a buyout, though it really boils down to where Hank is willing to play (presumably not Seattle).

I suppose Henrik's best option is to accept a buyout and sign cheaply wherever he wants, as opposed to allowing a trade to a middling team who would be able to take his retained cap hit. His bank account comes out about the same (if not better) and he ends up with a true contender.

We all just have to hope and pray that Point and Makar demand trades to play for their home town Flames and then proceed to sign for home town discounts. Hall too.

"Hometown discounts" are a myth.

They're not though. They don't happen a lot but they do happen. Plenty of examples of good players taking less than market value to play for a team that they really want to play for. Stamkos is one noteworthy example, he could've got way more than he did. Same with Tavares for another big one.

That brings back memories of Curtis Lazar. I will take a pass on giving up a second or useful asset for a guy who had 1 goal and likely would end up exposed in the expansion draft. If Kylington and another farm player can get it done okay...but I would keep any picks in the first 4 rounds
