Babcock, Gallant and Laviolette have all interviewed in Washington.

Pierre Maguire interviewed in Arizona for the GM spot.

What year is this again?

Speaking of Arizona, on HNIC they said that Pierre McGuire has interviewed twice for the GM position.

Also said that while the GM search is going on interim GM Steve Sullivan is taking calls for Darcy Kuemper who has a $4.5 mil cap hit next season.

And meanwhile, Treviling continues to sniff his own farts and not making a decision on the coaching staff. No wonder we can't have nice things, like games in the second round.

I see no cons with Pierre being a GM.

Keeps him out of the broadcast booth, off of TV, and he can make awful trades and be a (potentially) awful GM or shock us all by being a great one.

But probably awful.

Kuemper should be our target, hands down.

My dream off-season is now Sutter, Kuemper, Hall.

Caps coaching position is domino #1. After that its Calgary IMO.

Thanks for making me laugh.

I hear Treliving is in on McGuire to drive up the price..

Is wikipedia out of date, or are WAS and SEA the only official vacancies right now?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NHL_head_coaches

Other interims:
SJ - Boughner
NAS - Hynes?
MIN - Evason?
DAL - Bowness...

If I'm an established HC, WAS and SJ are more attractive situations than the rest. CGY/NAS/MIN are all middling messes.

SJ is a mess, but the talent is there and hungry to prove they don't suck. And...it's San Jose.

I see the delay as a good thing.
If it was going to be Ward then it doesn't make sense that it takes this long.
Tells me they are waiting to see what happens as teams get eliminated.

The talent isn’t there in SJ anymore. It’s all old, and they have a rubbish future on paper.

...it is San Jose though.

San Jose always finds a way.

Been saying they would age out of competitiveness for a decade now. They were decent to great for nine of those years.

And I don’t see how Gallant doesn’t land in Seattle with his recent experience with an expansion club.

I think Evason was made full-time HC during the pause. Hynes is not an interim.

It depends on if he's ok with waiting a year (or more). From the interviews I've seen and insider reporting, it sounds like he wants to get back at it as soon as possible.

Can’t quite remember but I think I heard on the Fan that Gallant was tied to the Red Wings. Makes sense given he has ties to the organization being a former teammate of Yzerman. Sure, they’re garbage now, but if there’s a long game plan in place with a GM he can trust, why not?

The Hockey Writers wrote a nice piece on why the Flames should keep Gaudreau. I agree with them.

Keeping Johnny until his contract expires seems like a waste of assets, unless you sign him. Not sure re-signing him makes sense.

I would support running another season with Gaudreau and possibly bringing in Hall to go "all in". But that means you probably have to trade him next summer to one of his 5 acceptable teams.

I'm curious-how would everyone feel if we hired Babcock?

Why does re-signing him not make sense?
