Like, how did the Avs luck into these guys? How did they sign Mackinnon to 6.3M?

I agree, they should trade him to the east and start the rebuild!

The road to the WCF starts in Calgary apparently.

Impressive that Dallas could take down Colorado despite pretty quiet series from Seguin, Benn and Radulov.

I think the Avs win it with Grubauer in net, but nonetheless...

From the replay it looked like either Namistikov or Kadri or both screwed up their assignments. MacKinnon tried coming back but too late.

A healthy Grubauer would have made a diffrence however its also fair to suggest a healthy Bishop would've countered that.

Having a bit of a hard time wrapping my head around the possibility that Vancouver could find themselves playing Dallas in the Western Conf final with another win on their goalies coattails. Unreal

I’m not sure if this makes me happier or more frustrated with how things went in round 1.

Maybe happier they actually competed with a top end team in the west.

But frustrated they had them on the ropes and let them off the hook.

No kidding.

Final 4 picks before everyone went in bubble, how many would've picked:

Tampa Bay probabaly lots.
Dallas probabaly a few

In two days we'll know if this unlikely events occurs but its certainly apossible in a game 7:

Islanders??? No one wouldv'e picked them final 4.
Canucks??? ditto

I didn't do any pools this playoff. I had NO idea and could've spun a wheel to pick teams. And how many poolers have Isles and Canucks in their pools???

Vancouver playing Dallas could be an easy path the Stanley Cup finals for the Canucks. Vancouver has better goaltending and superior snipers.

I'm gonna start looking for plywood to board up my house.

The Stars blueline will crush the Canucks.

They'll beat the crap out of them and grind them under.

The Avs are a far superior team to the Canucks and the stars dealt with them.

A lot of people trying to jinx it. Meanwhile, Canucks fans be like "Vegas won't lose 3 in a row. Real proud of the boys battling back and making this a series. I had them getting swept"

Edit- For the record. Vegas probably won't lose 3 in a row. I am incredibly proud of how the team pushed back and also pushed back with the strike. I didn't have this series going 6, let alone 7.

Pray for Edmonton to get swallowed back into the hell dimension it escaped from 125 years ago (make sure the Legislature is in session at the time).

That would solve so many problems.

Well, we know how they signed him to that, he was a 53 point player at the time.

But, no, questions like, "you're our superstar, the MVP candidate, who aspires to be the best player in the world, you score in 14 straight games and then pick the biggest game of the season to lay a goose egg in? It's not even like Khudobin just stoned you, he was beatable".

I don't think Mackinnon was terrible in this game, by any means. But he wasn't dominant like he is sometimes. It's not like he played some epic, amazing game and his teammates let him down - the Avs, as a group, showed up. They came to play. And in spite of that, Mackinnon just didn't have his usual effect. Some of that is credit to the stars, but this is Nathan MacKinnon we're talking about. When it gets to game 7, being that guy means that your team can say, "everything's on the line? Cool. We have this guy, and you don't. See you next year." He has yet to provide that.

Dallas, Islanders, Vegas and Tampa all have one thing in common, big mobile defencemen. The teams all have tough game plans and one basic thing, all have experienced coaches who teach a system of defensive coverage and moving the puck quick.
