He signed the largest contract in NHL history, as a post ELC contract. (At the time, post ELC contracts were still held lower than UFA contracts.) Nothing about that says discount, unless you are going to argue that he is SO MUCH better than every other player in the league that even a record-breaking, and market-changing contract is a 'discount'.

In the opinion of Oiler fans, they signed a literal god. So any contract he signed was a discount and a blessing to the mortals.

Oiler fans just want to praise McHobo for everything he does, this contract is far from a discount. He took as much as he could get. Not too many players take the discount, look at Marner/Matthews, even the "honour" of playing for the leafs didnt mean much at contract time

McNugget took a discount in that he could have asked for $15x5 and they would have paid it. Everyone else on that team sure as hell didn't take a discount though, Draisaitl's contract looks good now but at the time it was about 1.5M too much. Russell at 4Mx4? Lucic 6Mx6? Kassian 3.2M? Woof.

Nathan McKinnon is on a pace that could break Gretzky’s playoff points record of 47 in a single season. Of course certain members of the Oilers media are saying that the points he accumulated in the seeding round shouldn’t count and will tarnish the record. These are the same pundits that insist the Oilers made the playoffs by playing in the qualifying round. So then which is it? These mouth breathers can’t have it both ways. There is so much no good up there.

The round robin shouldn't count for playoffs points, and the Oilers didn't make the playoffs.

But he has a point, if the play-in counts, so should the round robin. I don't think either should.

Even if the round-robin is excluded, MacKinnon is still tearing up the playoffs at an unprecedented 2 pts/gp clip.

$ per point McDavids contract is nothing special...he took a "discount" because they leaked fake numbers to make him look good

The bonus to Gaetan Haas was something of a surprise. He was eligible for up to three Schedule A bonuses of $212,500, but with his modest production numbers didn’t come close to most of the league-established targets. But he snuck under the wire for one, “Top three in +/- among forwards on team (minimum 42 games)”. His modest -1 was actually tied for sixth among Oilers forwards, but three of those ahead of them — Kailer Yamamoto (27 GP), Tomas Jurco (12) and Joakim Nygard (33) — pro-rated out below 42 GP. Same story for all three of the guys he was tied with, notably Markus Granlund (34 GP, pro-rates to 40). Bottom line, Haas made the top three by the skin of his teeth, and because he himself had played 42+ games, qualified for the full bonus.
|
Stats like this are why I love this thread. Absolutely beautiful to read and I am legit happy for Haas. Good stuff!

My thoughts exactly. Pineapple is very weird for a chili, but I can see why and might even be interested to try it.
No chili powder? Not even some black pepper?
Broccoli?!?! It would become mush and you'd have little granular brocoli bites throughout... Cauliflower is not amazing in the best of circumstance but would probably just be an unwelcome soggy element.
This is bean stew not chili. Gross bean stew if i may add.
