Well, the Jays are 5-2 in their last 7, despite playing some of the ugliest ball you can play. Big double header tomorrow, win both and they’ll be in sole position of 2nd place. Not too shabby considering some of the blunders this team has made.
Edit. Didn’t realize the yanks were playing a double header too.

..... wait. They actually won? I turned it off in the 4th because I was so bored and disgusted with ugly ball after yesterday and today.

Can we please move on from McGuire, he's driving me nuts. Anyone but him could've driven that potential extra run or two in had we gone with someone else.

I think he went to Rochester, it might be McKinney.

Nevermind, it's Waguespack.

Moving on from a young player over fewer than 50 poor at bats this season would be exceptionally stupid. Especially when said player was batting .297 in his career prior to this season.

I don't think he officially retired.

Nope still out there and available.
What would be the downside in bringing a guy like him in?

I think the Jays need to commit to one of the catchers for a while. I feel that neither of them has played consistently enough to get into a rhythm at the plate.

This definitely just fits right in to 2020 so I guess I’ll just strap in for the ride. Lol

 Bizarro ball

Are some of these mistakes due to guys fast tracking to the big leagues? In the minors you get things like base running judgements ironed out - maybe. I don’t know but yeah lots of errors you don’t traditionally expect MLBers to make.

I see no down side.

There is no way the guy would come in and do worse than a .081 OBP or a -43 WRC+

You aren't looking hard enough.

Well we'd risk losing someone that is DFA'd to open a spot on the 40 man roster. We'd absolutely lose one of the catchers is they were waived to be sent to the alternate site.

Losing all that potential for at best a few extra playoff games would be a massive downside.

Reese Mcguire still has an option left.

A little worried about today's double header.
Roark starting game 1 and Stripling starting game 2.

Roark was touched up pretty good the last time he started against the BoSox, and he hasn't been great overall this year.

Stripling also hasn't had a great season so far, although am I looking forward to seeing what he can do in a Jays uni.

Hopefully Montoyo doesn't give a ton of rope with the bullpen he has at his disposal and the fact that they are 7 inning games.

I really don't know. I don't think it would matter, as Jansen would still be getting the bulk of the work through the remainder of the season and would probably start all the playoff games if they make it. He has been bad at the plate too, but not Mcguire levels of bad.

I imagine the Jays brass will just remain patient with the youngsters however.

Godley has been touched up for 17 runs in his last 4 starts (14.1 innings), so him going against Roark gives me some hope.

Especially since Godley only throws 90-92 with his fastball and uses his curve almost as much as his heat.

Yeah, Godley is not good so that's a positive. He did face the Jays in early August though and pitched 4 shut out innings. Hopefully the bats are not cold today.
