I suppose some salary could be eaten by AZ. If you get him down to Gio’s salary, then it’s more like a first for OEL, plus the cap relief from losing Gio. I suppose it really depends on what Gio is going to be for the next two years.

Plus, as I mentioned, there’s the expansion issue.

So Gio and a first to ARZ for OEL, adds appx 2 mil cap. Johnny shipped out for futures, deducts 6.75? from the cap. Sign Hall for 7.5 x 6. So lateral moves at D and left wing, lose our first hopefully gain a higher first. We’d still need to plug holes on RW and D. I dunno, seems like treading water.

I don't think the yotes are going to eat $2 million/ year for the next 7 years. Plus, I'm really tired of giving away 1st and 2nd round picks when our prospect base is getting pretty thin in terms of high impact prospects. We need to maintain a pipeline of cheap, skilled talent to ensure our window is open for a reasonable period.

I know the Habs are looking for a LHD to play with Weber or Petry, would the Habs do Gio for Domi? I know he is older, but I think he still has it in him to play as a top 4 D until his contract ends. Feel like the Habs want to give the team they have another go for the playoffs with Price and now Allen as the goalies, so I don't see why they wouldn't want to grab a D that can log in 22 minutes a night.
