MAF taking 7 million of cap is a gross thought. Plus what are you giving up to get him?
He had worse stats than both our goalies this season on a top 5 team in the league, and our tandem cost $5.5 million against the cap combined.
Plus, he's going to be 36 in a couple months.

Whatever happened to Parsons? He's still in the system isn't he? Is he a complete write off now or something? I thought he just had a rough year of injury issues.
Gillies completed frittered away though. Such potential and just couldn't seize the opportunity. With how weird goalies can be, I wouldn't be surprised if Gillies resurfaces somewhere and works his way back into the NHL.

Yeah he's in the system. Played more ECHL than AHL, had a 0.911 save % in 25 ECHL games as a 22 year old. He's not done yet, but he's not tearing it up either.

Sorry Mason McDonald. Pretty clear who it was referring to when talking about a prospect.
And your feelings on him may have been low but when he’s a 2nd pick that was good enough to play for the Canadian world Junior team that’s a highly touted prospect.

And like most, will lose a year of development in this coming season (or lack there of)

What does our organizational depth look like at ahl level and lower? Nothing to be excited about? Asking because I don’t know, and don’t follow those levels of hockey much.

Someone else will know more about this aspect than me but for goalies, it’s Zagi something and Parsons with a young kid Wolf who is undersized drafted 7th round but has some hope.
Gillies is a free agent and I can’t see him returning.
So no hope for help right now goalie wise from our prospect base. At the very best 2-3 years.

Stockton was really bad defensively last year. Gillies started out as a tire fire the first ten games, and then was actually pretty good up until the stoppage. Zags was still acclimatizing.
I would guess that the hopes were that Gilles would be back-up material by this point, and Parsons would join the AHL club next season. You never really know about a goalie until they are in their mid-20s. That's where Gilles is now, but Parsons is only 22.

Wolf won the award for best goaltender in the CHL, with identical stats to Carter Hart, who he supplanted in Everett when Hart graduated. He has some serious pedigree. But you are right, two to three years away.

Just listening to Fan 960. Talking about a Gio and our first for OEL trade. Thoughts? I think it’s gross personally.

OEL is a younger, but still gonna hit 30 soon, and costs $8.25 for 7 more years with NMC clauses every year.

Im ok with a swap of OEL and Gio, but not if our 1st is also added. Thats ridiculous.

It messes with the expansion draft too. Gio would have been exposed. OEL added in his place means you have to expose another D.

I haven’t paid any attention to him this past year, but I haven’t heard great things. Why would we want to take on that contract and add a first and get rid of our captain?

Taking a while to get to 5000

I don't recall the first being discussed? Just a bunch of NTC talk to go with the deal.

Better fw depth please. Let's stop wasting assets on defense.

Gillies also had hip issues that took him off track
Prior to that he was projecting very nicely
