One team was mentally and emotionally prepared to win. One team wasn’t.

Nothing more, nothing less.

That - or some coach pulled a Wardo and put in a cold goalie for a playoff game.

Shots in the first were 23-5.

That has nothing to do with the goaltender.

Need to take more offensive zone roughing penalties when up by 3 goals. avalanche obviously don't understand what it takes to win in the playoffs

The choice to start Bishop was pretty high risk, given that the Avs had their backs up against the wall, but I guess any time you start the cold goalie in the playoffs is a risk. Khudobin didn't even get a good rest in the end either. Doesn't look like Dallas can make the two goalies plan work like Vegas has the choice of.

Stars are stacked with battle tested cagey vets, Benn, Radulov, Pavelski, Cogliano, Comeau, Perry, Sekera, Khudobin, Bishop. I think Dallas wants it more, their kids are good too, Hintz, Gurianov, Heiskanen.

How insane is it that Nathan MacKinnon already has over 20 points in the playoffs?

he is basically in round 3...but still it's a lot

Helps when you pound a non-playoff team 4 times in round one too

Hutchinson definitely wants that goal back.

Zadorov ties it at 1

It's still nearly 2 pts/gp. That is ridiculous production, regardless of the level of competition. MacKinnon has notched 10 points in the first five games in each round so far.

I said it was a lot...I just don't like comparing this season to historical numbers

Round robin games plus 11 seed in first round

So, excluding the round robin, that is still 20 pts in ten games. In 2018 Sidney Crosby scored 21 points in 12 gp. He scored 19 in 13 gp in 2010. In 2018 Kuznetsov scored 32 in 24 gp, so we will see how it goes if Colorado advances.

Whether you are keen on comparing this year to historical numbers or not, MacKinnon's numbers are already better than anyone's over the past decade.

The penalty killing by the Stars is terrific. They have killed off four penalties so far in this game and six in the previous game. That means the Avalanche power play is terrible!

Sportsnet 650 and 960 are carrying the game with the HNIC feed.
