I think that trade would be more like Monahan and Gaudreau for Couturier, Konecny and Myers. A bonus of this trade would be cap space to go for a #1 goalie.

I would do Gaudreau for Konecny in a heartbeat. He is a legitimate top six player with tons of potential.
Then sign Taylor Hall and trade Ryan for a pick. Sign Matt Nieto for cheap.
Tkachuk-Lindholm-Mangiapane
Hall-Monahan-Konecny
Nieto-Backlund-Dube
Lucic-Bennett-Gawdin/Phillips

Gaudreau + Hanifin + Ryan for Johansen + Forsberg ...? I doubt Nashville is on Johnny’s 5 team list that kicks in for the final season too. How close is that?? Who would have to add??
Cap in is 14 mill , Cap out is 14.825 Mill
Sign Hall, Talbot, Brodie, Mangiapane and Kylington
Hall - Monahan - Lindholm
Forsberg - Johansen - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Backlund - Dube
Lucic - Bennett - Phillips
Gawdin
Giordano - Brodie
Valimaki - Andersson
Kylington - ???

I would hope Nashville
Forsberg is less productive and RyJo might have negative value at this point.
Not keen on that deal at all.

Johansen's contract is absolutely terrible. 5 more years at $8m for a guy who put up 39 points this year. Nashville should have to add a 1st just get rid of that contract, even then I am not sure I would take it. His trajectory is heading straight down. It's a strong pass from me.
If we are trading with Nashville the only pieces that interest me are Fabbro, Tomasino, and their 1st.

My brother said he heard a rumor that the Flames are working on a multi-player trade with the Penguins (presumably for one of thier goalies), and that we would be taking Bjugstad back as one of the pieces. Obviously BS-he said he saw somewhere on twitter...

Just had a terrific chat with a very intelligent Flyers fan in my Twitter DMs. Here's the view from the other side:
- Konecny is very unlikely to move
- Sanheim and Myers are very unlikely to move
- Farabee is seen as far less valuable than Morgan Frost
- Cam York and Egor Zamula could move.
- Frost could move.
- Multiple firsts could move.
The deal that he proposed to me was:
2 1sts
Cam York
Morgan Frost
Scott Laughton
Wade Allison
Which I don't hate. I'd still probably prefer a deal around Konecny.
I'd also love to see Nic Aube-Kubel included in there. Alberta guy, RHS RW, can play up and down the lineup. Skilled, fast, thick, and gritty.

If Johnny gets traded for four players plus picks we will most definitely lose that trade. You don't move him in a quality for quantity trade.

To be fair, we were shooting around ideas and the guy suggested Laughton as someone to help even the cap and Allison as a total throw-in.
From his vantage point, he said York and Frost are the Flyers' two most promising prospects. 2 1sts plus those two was the backbone of the proposal.

This is actually a trade that makes sense to me.
We need size, top 9 RH forwards and a goalie.
Depending on price I would be interested for sure.

Problem is, hasn't Bjugstad been hurt all year?

I like that proposal. York is very promising, the 2 firsts would be awesome, and I've always liked Laughton. Frost too? Well, ok then.

An interesting thing about Farabee, although not really important, but he is part of the Lindros/Forsberg trade tree. That trade is like the Energizer Bunny.

If Bjugstad can still play hockey he would be an okay acquisition. I feel like he could be a solid RW in the line up somewhere.
But, I dont think hes going to play good hockey anymore. Spinal surgery, out 8 weeks and that was after missing 14 weeks after a core muscle surgery. Got lost on the pens when he really should have been Jordan Staal 2.0 for them.
I like him, want him on the Flames but he's definitely a bigger risk than my favorite trade acquosition Nolan Patrick. And he is 28.
But, if its Murray and Bjugstad for a hockey trade then I'd be okay with it. He could be a useful converted RW. IF he can still play impactful hockey.

It helps when you roll over assets instead of letting them expire into nothing.

Thats not 4 players though. That’s mostly a futures deal.
2 1sts
Prospects:
-York (2019 1st -14 Overall)
-Frost (2017 1st -27 Overall)
-Allison (2016 2nd)
Scott Laughton
Is the goal is to clear out cap space to go after Hall or another UFA then then outside something around a top 10 pick this is probably the high end of the pick/prospect capital you could expect.

It's actually a reasonable offer, especially if Hall is a fait accomplis. It's essentially 4 1sts worth of value. Sucks that york is another LHD, not like we really need more, but it makes us ridiculously deep in that position. Laughton is a much better 4th line centre than Janko, and Frost is pegged as a top 6 C. Allison is definitely a meh prospect but he's a big boy with a RHS and a goal scoring streak, honestly he could turn into a josh anderson.
Must be the Scorpion trade I hate the least.
Edit: Potential lineup:
Hall-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Frost-Mangiapane
Bennett-Backlund-Dube
lucic-Laughton-Ryan
Definitely looking to trade Ryan if we make that deal.

That's what I was thinking. This trade would add a lot to the Flames' prospect system AND give them the cap space to go after a free agent. I personally would rather go after Robin Lehner than Taylor Hall.
Cam York and Morgan Frost are no slouches as far as prospects go, plus the two first rounders, plus about $4.5M in cap space.
I would do this deal if I was the Flames.

A deal with the goal of allowing Treliving to go after an over priced UFA scares me.
The best use of cap space is to sign your emerging young players to as long a deal as possible.

Not sure if Philly can really add too much salary, but it isn't a bad option. They are sooo top heavy with Giroux and Voracek though.
Edit: and Hayes and JVR. Jesus.
