Probably not. But, I can hope.
Also, when Bo is back, I think it will be Shaw that is affected most, I think Biggio or Villar plays 3B. Although I think Biggio and Villar might get the odd game in the OF to rest guys.

I don't agree with the complaints on Gurriel. That was a contact play, you can't wait to see where it's hit, you just go. If it isn't right at someone, you'll score. Unfortunately, it was hit right t the 2nd baseman and he had no chance.
Not his fault though.

The O's are pinch hitting for a pinch hitter? Way to waste your bench.

Yeah., that's a set play, it's on whomever makes that call. With 1 out in a tie game, I would not have had him running on contact personally.

Quite possibly, yes. Doesn't change my opinion. And Montoyo is the guy pulling the strings, he doesn't call upstairs during the game to ask.

He doesn't need to call upstairs, he just simply has to be told organizational philosophy is that they don't want pitchers seeing the order the third time through.

Great job by Hatch to pick up Borucki.
Can't believe the Jays plucked him from the Cubs for Phelps. Not that Phelps is bad, but that was a great trade for a rebuilding team.

I didn't mind it, considering 1) how bad the O's D has been in this series and 2) maybe they figured it would make Vogelbach more aggressive at the plate

I like the call to send Gurriel on the contact play. With Jansen batting behind Vogelbach you need to be aggressive to try and get the run as there’s no given with 2 outs. I think it would be different if it was a different part of the lineup due up. It was also a little bit of bad luck as the ball was hit directly at the 2nd baseman. A couple feet in either direction and I think Gurriel has a real chance to score.

No way would the instructions from above be that rigid. You have to give the manager room to maneuver.

I'm not mad about it or anything. I understand the benefits, also understand what can go wrong, I guess I am just more conservative in that situation than others.

I'm sure Montoyo is afforded some discretion. Maybe the Jays have internal metrics on Chase Anderson that show batters with a significant bump in OPS his third time through the order while other pitchers are afforded more leeway. We know Shapiro is a huge analytics guy and I think the fact the Jays haven't had a starter get to the 7th inning in something like 60 straight games or something is more evidence towards the '3rd time through the order' point of no return for the starters.

Do the Orioles lead the league in infield hits? They seem to have perfected them.

That was irritating. Had the lead off guy 0-2 and he battled back to full and then squibs and infield hit.
Come on Dolis.

It probably won't change anything tomorrow, but I believe Ray was scheduled to start tomorrow. I don't think we push back Ryu or Walker back, but maybe have Ray pitch on Friday and push back Roark and Anderson a day?

Don't they have a cpl day quarantine period before joining a new team? I thought I read that about one of the trades last week.
