The Jets desperately need a #2C. The Flames might be shopping a #2C.

Yay the smallest piece of the trade favors the Flames. You don’t add salary and trade the best 2 players to get a better 4th line center.

Ryan is similar or better by nearly every metric. Jarnkrok's only advantages are salary and age, and I guess that he hits more. If the Flames acquired him it would be for those two things, not because he's a better player.

My guess is if the ages were reversed, Ryan would be >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jarnkrok.
Basically identical players though.

Sean Monahan
CLAUSE DETAILS: Starting 2020-21: 10 team no trade list
Mikael Backlund
CLAUSE DETAILS: Player submits a 10 team trade list
Milan Lucic
CLAUSE DETAILS: June 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 - Modified NTC: Submits a list of 8 teams he can be traded to / July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 - Modified NTC: Submits a list of 10 teams he can be traded to
Mark Giordano
CLAUSE DETAILS: Starting 2020-21, Lists 19 teams he can be traded to
Noah Hanifin
CLAUSE DETAILS: Player submits a 8 team no trade list

I wonder when that "Starting 2020-21" date actually kicks in... before or after the NHL entry draft?

If we did go for Domi, maybe we can have him and Lindholm split the draws? Both have different handedness and can the draws on their strong side.
Have Mangiapane or Tkachuk play LW/RW.
Domi - Lindholm - Tkachuk/Mangiapane
or
Tkachuk/Mangiapane - Domi - Lindholm

The July 1st equivalent which is November 1st IIRC. First day of free agency is when contracts roll over.

Some conflicting info on free agency out there. This is an example of what I have seen from several sites:
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nhl/...e1ab4i1m18z0am
"While the NHL's free agency period was in flux after the COVID-19 pandemic paused the season — and the normal date of July 1 has long passed — the signing period is now tentatively scheduled to begin at noon ET on Oct. 9 or seven days following the Stanley Cup Final, whichever comes later."

After watching the Islanders more this postseason, what about Anthony Beauvillier and Dobson for Gaudreau??
Gives the Isles a star winger...one who would look good in an Islanders jersey and they could likely re-sign
Gives us two players with term...a strong second liner and a potential top 4 RD.
Beauvillier Monahan Lindholm
Tkachuk Backlund Mangiapane
Lucic Bennett Dube
_____ Ryan Rieder
Robinson
Hanifin Anderson
Giordano Dobson
Valimaki Forbort
_____
Lehner

I posted this in the Philly thread, but probably better suited for the actual trade discussion thread:
If Philly fizzles out here I wonder if Konecny is a viable return for Gaudreau after all.
I came into the playoffs thinking it was a fair swap, then was pessimistic after the Flames (and specifically Gaudreau's) playoffs, but I'm back thinking it's a good potential swap for both teams.
Of course Konecny hasn't been productive in the playoffs either, but I really like his overall game. He's only 23, a right shot RW, with 5 more years at $5.5M.
It'd be a case of both teams hoping they can acquire a player and get them to produce in the playoffs, however I think Konecny's intangibles are what we're in need of.
I saw mention of Pierre McGuire going on the Fan690 and speculating the same. Saying that Philly is such a perfect match for Gaudreau and Konecny is the guy that could make it work for both teams.

If Ehlers is going on the block and they need a 2C, I'd do:
Monahan for Ehlers straight up.
Monahan career averages
Goals per game: 0.3.6
Assists per game: 0.4
Points per game: 0.76
Ehlers career averages
Goals per game: 0.31
Assists per game: 0.38
Points per game: 0.7
And instead of signing Taylor Hall, if Toronto is looking to unload Nylander for a Dman maybe we can do something like
Giordano (2 mill retained) + Jankowski + 2020 3rd (Oilers pick) for Nylander
Hall career averages
Goals per game: 0.36
Assists per game: 0.56
Points per game: 0.91
Nylander career averages
Goals per game: 0.28
Assists per game: 0.44
Points per game: 0.72
If the Gaudreau trade rumors are true to MTL
Tkachuk - Domi - Nylander
Ehlers - Bennett - Lindholm
Dube - Backlund - Mangiapane
Lucic - Poehling/Ryan - Gawdin/Phillips
Go after Petriangelo or sign other RHS dmen or trade Derek Ryan + or flip Poehling to Buffalo for rights to Brandon Montour
Valimaki - Petriangelo
Hanifin - Andersson
Kylington - Mackey/Gudas/Vatanen/Montour

With Johnny getting engaged to a girl from Philly I think the time to trade him is now. While I don't think its would be impossible to resign him I think the odds are getting worse. He spends next to no time here out of season, is super close to his family out East, and has that nice beach house in Jersey. From an asset management perspective it would be best for the Flames in the long run.
Trade him to Jersey for picks/prospects and use the cap space from Johnny to try an sign Hoffman or Hall. Player wise its a bit of a downgrade but the pick/prospects will help restock the cupboards.

Johansen at 1.5MM retained means 4 more seasons at 6.5MM. Pretty good value if you ask me. His GAF meter is inconsistent but he is up an down compared to Monahan. A completely different type of C. I just think that Gaudreau will get dealt and then Monahan not being able to mesh with Tkachuk is a big problem. Johansen also seems to step it up a bit for the playoffs. An extra year at 6.5MM for Johansen makes that contract better than Monahan's a bit.
If we take overall game, I think Forsberg is slightly better than Johnny, but it is also a change that we can use for the Playoffs. Perhaps resigning him would be easier as well with all the Swedes on the team (Lindholm, Backlund, Andersson).
I'd say go after Markstrom as a UFA as well.

Gaudreau for Konecny is the trade i'm looking for if i'm Treliving.
I know the players don't have a say on the trade but Johnnys fiancé is in Philly and Konecnys long time girlfriend is here in Calgary. Both players would likely be fine moving.

Was not aware of that Konecny tidbit. That is the deal that makes the most sense to me and if it is one for one I think Philly wins the trade.

So the guy comes out and says he loves it in Calgary, he wants to stay, his gf likes it in Calgary, and you are going to spin this crap argument to suit your agenda because you don't like the player. I am really tired of posts like this, people making bs up to fit their narrative. Is that you Eric Francis? Just another garbage post.

I'd gamble on Konecny for Gaudreau trade unless the Flames could somehow pry out Couturier. Would balance out our top 6 pretty well.
