For Kylington, I don't want him traded but its a situation where I can see the Flames thinking of a lateral move solely based on handedness of shot. I don't know what that would look like but I can see it. I'm perfectly happy with him being a Flame for a long long time as well. But the shot handedness balance does seem to be a point of action for them.
Maybe T.O for someone like Sandin? Structure a trade that way?

Cale Fleury and Noah Juulsen are a couple of young RHD that are somewhat on the same level as Kylington.
Frederic Allard in Nashville too.

Kylington can play right side, it sounds like it is actually his natural position.

I'd like to see him get some time on the right side. Hopefully he emphasizes this to management and they consider it.

I know the rumour with Montreal was around Gaudreau but what if it was around Monahan??
Domi + Danault + 16th
For
Monahan + Giordano + 19th
???
Trade Rittich for a pick or bury his contract and run with one of the younger guys like Gillies or Parsons as a backup behind Lehner.
16 mill out almost with Rittich moving as well with about 9 mill coming back once Domi’s RFA contract is figured out.
The 7 mill in savings would give the Flames almost 24 mill that could go towards Hall, Lehner, Brodie at a discount, Reider and RFA’s like Mangiapane and Kylington.
Gaudreau - Danault - Lindholm
Hall - Backlund - Tkachuk
Domi - Bennett - Mangiapane
Lucic - Ryan - Dube
Rieder
Hanifin - Andersson
Valimaki - Brodie
Forbort - Kylington
???
Lehner
Gillies

I would do that, doubt Montreal would. Giordano is the least valuable piece in that deal

Rittich is an NHL goalie any day of the week. Trade him sure, he's never getting buried.
Gillies is an AHL goalie any day of the week

That’s an ugly, ugly trade for Calgary. Danault has hit 40 points 3 times in his career and is older than Monahan. Everything about that trade is ugly.
You have Calgary giving up the two best players and their first to move up 3 spots and get Domi and maybe a 3rd line centre on a good team. It’s just not an upgrade for the team anywhere. That trade doesn’t make them better today, or in the future.
Giordano is the 2nd most valuable piece in that trade, not the least valuable.

Yeah, that's really terrible.
And acquiring 2 Cs would mean we would have 5 average Cs with no 1st line guy
Danault
Backlund
Domi
Bennett
Ryan
That worsens and complicates our weakest position, and we give up Giordano to do it.

Not to mention Lindholm, who is a natural centre already moved to the wing. That is the good thing about centres (being more versatile) though I guess.

Has anyone suggested a possible Oliver Ekman-Larsson for Hanifin + swap?
Seems like there are rumors swirling around him and the Coyotes could surprisingly use the cap space. I don’t have to tell you guys the fondness Treliving and Don Maloney have for OEL. Could be an interesting move if management pursues.

Hanifin is far more valuable than OEL IMO

Why would the Flames want to trade a guy who is 6 years younger, and is still getting better, for a guy who is 29, costs almost $4M per year more, and is locked in for 7 years, several of which will be a cap anchor?
And you think the Flames should ADD?

$3.3M difference. Point stands.
OEL isn't $3.3M better this year. He certainly won't be going forward. And it won't be long before Hanifin is better straight-up, never mind the extra cost.

Yeah, no chance we move Hanifin for OEL, when you factor in age and contract, that is a bad deal for the Flames.
I would however be interested in acquiring Hjalmarson at the right price should Brodie walk away this off-season.

Not saying I would personally do it. But I know BT still thinks highly of OEL and with the Coyotes up against the cap, it definitely makes for an intriguing discussion. I’ve seen the rumors of Darnell Nurse + 1st, so my mind went directly to what a comparable Flames trade would be. If the Coyotes ate some salary, it might work. Not sure exactly how OEL would do with the Flames, but I know he can eat a ton of minutes and that shot of his is elite.

Let's pray that the Edmonton rumour comes true.
If the Oilers offered Nurse and a 1st for OEL, I would drive the players each way myself.

You lose offense but gain defensive responsibility. A C that plays in all 3 zones vs one that plays in 1 and doesn’t add much unless he is scoring.
Not sure if gio and domi are included but I do listen if I am Treliving. Something around danault and mony isn’t that far fetched.

Would be amazing. I think I would skip gleefully from point a to b for an entire day knowing they did that.
