Satanists in America are advocating ritualistic abortion!!
Okay, not exactly. But kinda.
The Satanic Temple (an official religion that doesn't believe in Satan and is working for the separation of church and state among other things), announced that their satanic abortion ritual exempts members who wish to have an abortion from practices such as mandatory counseling, being forced to view sonograms, waiting periods, etc.
Basically, it's taking the expanded ideas of religious freedoms as interpreted by the Supreme Court, and using them as a tool to protect women from attempts to guilt them into not pursuing their abortion.
(The actual ritual, in case anyone's curious, is simply reciting two of the TST's tenets, about the inviolability of one's own body and that one's beliefs should conform with one's scientific understanding.)
It'll be interesting to see (a) whether any legal cases result from someone attempting to use these protections, and (b) how far conservatives fly off the handle over this.
I watched a documentary on the Satanic Temple (I think it was on Netflix). Actually really interesting, they don't actually worship Satan or anything crazy like the xtians want you to think. Most of them are atheists and therefore don't think Satan is real either. They just use Satan as their figurehead in opposition to the religiousness in the states. They believe people should be free to worship and be whoever they are and that religion should play zero part in politics. Really agree with their whole message, I didn't realize until I watched it that I was a Satanist all along.

Interesting, but I don't think you can blame christians for thinking the Satanic Temple worships Satan. That is just terrible marketing.

I remember being really interested in Satanism a bunch of years back, and being disappointment that it wasn't all sacrifices and bringing forth hell demons to do your bidding. I still think I have some of the Anton LaVey books in storage somewhere. What always got me was his counter 11 Satanic Rules
Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
When in another's home, show them respect or else do not go there.
If a guest in your home annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and they cry out to be relieved.
Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
Do not harm little children.
Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.
When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him

I love how for the most part that is just some solid rules to live by that pretty much no one could argue with, but then sometimes the rules just crank it to 11

The branding is intentionally meant to provoke people and draw attention to people who crave it. I personally don't care, but let's not pretend that there was any diplomatic or well meaning message behind it. They were the original edgelords from before the internet was a thing.

The Tenet's are a little different, they're basically the cornerstone definition of the beliefs that you should live by.
The rules, are more like the 11 commandments.
You have to believe in the Tenets, the rules are a guideline or definition of how you can best follow those Tenets.
When you combine the Tenet's with the Rules and then throw in what Satanism considers to be sins.
Stupidity
Pretentiousness
Solipsism
Self-deceit
Herd Conformity
Lack of Perspective
Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxies
Counterproductive Pride
Lack of Aesthetics
Its not a bad ideology to fall into, basically the whole thing is don't put yourself in a position to be stupid or exploited, what's mine is mine, put yourself ahead of all others, and don't lie to yourself. Do whatever you want to do, just be prepared for the consequences.

It'll get the hardcore MAGA cult riled up, for sure. However the problem with Trump's base is that's it's been shrinking since the last election and he hasn't gained any traction anywhere else. The guy won in 2016 by the thinnest of margins, roughly 77,000 votes in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin-- three states that Biden currently has significant leads in.
Biden is also leading in most of the other swing states as well. Trump and the GOP are in trouble. The only way they'll win this thing is with ridiculous amounts of cheating, voter suppression, and Russian interference. Sadly though, that could still possibly work for them if the Dems don't get out there and vote like their lives depend on it.
Contrary to the belief here, a lot of people think Trump has done well. Most Republicans believe Trump created the best economy in history, in spite of reality. The stock market hit record highs, and people believe that actually means something. Sure, the same people said the DOW was meaningless when Obama took it from a nosedive to record highs, but when Trump kept the numbers on the same steady incline, he was a genius who inherited a dystopian hellscape and turned it into a Utopian where all Americans are in their dream jobs making millions.
They will ignore the current numbers, because COVID isn't Trump's fault, and if it wasn't for Trump, there'd be 2 million dead and a worse economy. And many blame the Dems for the economy, because Dems are trying to shut down the economy either to hurt Trump's reelection, or because they somehow take pleasure in controlling people. I keep seeing that argument. Dem governors somehow gain evil pleasure out of forcing people to wear masks and eat outside.
Again, I think the GOP is a regressive dinosaur. I don't understand the Lincoln Project's MO. Think anyone other than Trump would have beaten Hillary? Trump was simply a blip that somehow got power back for the GOP, but by abandoning him now, they'll just go back to being losers. I've said it many times here, the GOP has already won it's last election. Trump may win in 2020, I still think it's 50/50.
Progressives not voting for Biden out of spite because he doesn't represent them and Republicans not voting for Trump out of spite because he doesn't represent them, are both failed strategies for change. Like is the Lincoln Projects strategy to oust Trump now and rebuild for 2028? Do they think they will get Trump out, then sabotage Biden somehow and take the Whitehouse back in 2028 and bring back the glory of the GOP? Good luck with if the Democrats take both houses in November.

Between Anton Levay and Marilyn Manson's Anti-Christ Superstar album when I was younger, I was always interested in Satanism. I used to borrow Levay's books from the library and I'd be surprised it wasn't at all about human sacrifice or devil worship. Things my church always taught me Satanism was all about.
Considering how rogue "Christianity" has gone these days, the world would probably be a better place if we followed some of Satanism's guidelines

I remember getting busted by my folks with the Satantic Bible and the book of rituals. If it had happened a year earlier it would have been serious problems, but my family had left the Catholic Church, so my dad gave me the look, shrugged his shoulders and tossed the book back on my bed and walked out thinking his son was a huge moronic mental case.

69% Biden seems like more than slightly...hopefully its just a convention boost. I think people are being extra careful not to say "Trump can't win" this time

I also wanted to add, how many police officers are eligible to vote? I think it's a big chunk. They'll will vote for Trump or not vote if the Democrats keep threatening to defund them or keep calling them white nationalist para-military forces.

It's a bizarre take to assume police don't always overwhelmingly back the GOP, because they do. Not like they were mostly backing Dems and then this year happened and all of a sudden the Dems have a problem with a loss of a strong voting block. Police is probably the only union that doesn't back Dems (other than maybe sports players unions).

538 gave Trump a 29% chance of winning on eve of 2016 election. Not much has changed.
