Kapanen put up 80 points over his last 2 seasons. Mangiapane put up 45

Mangiapane is an RFA, with arb rights. No one is paying a first unless he’s re-signed to a nice contract.

Yeah, Mang only played 44 games while Kap had 78. He also played with Hathaway and Ryan, while Kap did it with a mix of Tavares, Matthews, Kadri, Hyman and Marleau.
For the player they are today, Mang is better than Kap. Kap returned the 15th overall - so if you want to argue that Mang should be worth the 17th, or 18th? Sure, but Mang is worth a 1st.

Considering Buffalo fans wouldn't even trade the 8th for Johnny... I think you're not even coming close.

Kapanen had more even strength points than Nylander over the 2 years. And if you pro-rate Nylander for games played, he would have been on pace for maybe 4 or 5 more even strength points than Kapanen over two years.
Kapanen had more even strength points than Kadri in the prior year.

It's a good thing they survey fans before making deals

He is a good 3rd line guy on a good team. Nobody is giving up a 1st round pick for mangiapane. Especially given his size.

Not convinced. It’s certainly no slam dunk the Flames can get a first for Mangiapane.
Mangiapane certainly has value, but I think Kapenen is the more ‘known’ asset. What kind of first would you expect for Mangiapane? Mid round? Late round?
I also think you won’t see first round picks being moved as much as we are accustomed to seeing. With Pandemic economics taking hold, cost controlled cheap players are at a premium more than ever, I think. The pens are bit of an outlier because their window is directly tied to Sid and Malkin. And for what it’s worth, I’ve yet to read an analysis of that trade that says the Pens came out on top.
Lastly, if Mangiapane is hands down the better player, why didn’t the Pens offer 15 for Mangiapane?

Anyone who thinks we can't get a haul for Monahan or Gaudreau should go to that dumpster fire other place and check out the offers other fans are making for f"in philip danault. We can make bank if we do decide to trade one of these guys.

I get that Mangiapane isn't a big guy, but he's 23. Scored 17 goals in 68 games in his first full season, was buried in defensive zone starts, and still managed a CF% of 3.9 at even strength.
Why trade him? If you even get a 1st rounder (unlikely), it'll be a late one. You hope that pick ends up being as good as Mangiapane.

LOL I'm not saying they they do, but the die hard fans (Like us) are pretty keen on what teams would accept.
Johnny would definitely be a starting point, but there's no way Mangiapane + 19th gets you the 8th lol.

On what basis?
Their production is similar this past season and Kapanen has more of a track record.

Don't think anyone other than Rutherford is giving up a 1st for Kapanen. Kapanen is on the decline while Mangiapane is still improving. Leafs are selling high, IMO.
I wouldn't give Mangiapane up for a mid/late first round pick, either. Sure he'll command a solid raise in arbitration, but he's a type of player you want in your locker room.

KK: 51.63 CF%, 47.69 SF%, 45.95 GF%, 47.92 xGF%, 50.51 SCF%, 48.59 HDCF%, 52.38 HDGF%, 60.23% Offensive Zone starts
AM: 53 CF%, 52.26 SF%, 52.94 GF%, 53.4 xGF%, 55.22 SCF%, 55.21 HDCF%, 46.01% Offensive Zone starts
KK produced 26 of his 36 points in the first half of the season where his most consistent linemates were Marner and Tavares or Nylander and Matthews. When he got shifted to play in the bottom 6, his production dropped significantly.
KK scream leech to me, while AM looks like a play driving piece moving forward. KK's "track record" is really just built on the fact that he got to the league one year quicker than Mang.

Toronto reportedly shopping Anderson. Surprising but kinda interesting if they go with the backup and use the cost savings to bolster their defence. Solid asset management as next year they’d lose him for nothing. He’s a top five goaltender IMO.

Sabre’s fans debating if they should trade Cozens for Monahan most day no.
I read a suggestion of Reinhart and 8 but I think I would prefer Cozens and a Dman
