I can't believe people picked the Canucks in this series. You think the league will allow their darling expansion franchise to be eliminated by a Canadian team? Lol. Expect a lot of soft calls against Vancouver and hardly any against Vegas as the refs micromanage a Vegas series win for the league.

If Vegas wins the series it's going to be simply because they are the better team. Some of these conspiracy theories are a little over the top.

Only reason Canucks are in the second round is goaltending. Combination of Markstrom stealing multiple games and the STL goaltending not being able to make a save. They had to have a lot go right to beat a struggling STL team. Vegas is looking like a team that is more in stride with a couple goalies playing well. Vegas is also coming off a short series, which I don't think was overly physical. The opposite can be said for the Canucks. I think this is another short series.

If the fix was in, you'd want cities with committed fanbases that are already near their upper financial limits to have consistently mediocre teams that give the occasional glimmer of hope to keep pumping those fanbases for money. You'd also want to concentrate the championships in big american cities where the teams have gone cold and where a championship run would net a vastly higher increase in revenue.

Then again, if the fix was in, why the #### do you send 4x 1sts including McDavid to Siberia? Maybe Katz just ponied up the most money since he knows he could leverage McDavid into a free arena.

The NHL is a business, what helps it grow more and generate more revenue?

Not everything is a conspiracy.

Re-watch the Lightning/Flames series for one-sided calls, it's called economics and I bet it happens.

That said, the Canucks suck and I hope they go down.

I can't believe how many Flames fans are cheering for the Canucks. You do you, I just can't believe how many.

I concede they have some great likeable players, like Petterson, Hughes and Horvat (Monahan is better) but this is our 2nd biggest rival.

There is no one on this Canucks team like Loungo, Bieksa, Kesler, The Twins, etc. That team was filled with detestable ####bags, all I see on the Canucks now are great young players playing respectable hokey. I don't know if that's enough to get me over the hump, but it's a night and day difference in terms of team composition.

I cheer against the franchises not the players on it. The Canucks and Oilers could be filled with the most respectable players in the league and I would still want them to lose.

No argument from me there.

But they are professional hockey club from the city of Vancouver. It's just math.

Oilers yes, but I don't feel equally about the Canucks.
Strange to say as it as it used to be the case for me too.

I wouldn't say I'm cheering for them, but a bit not bothered.
The Flames are bothering enough and emotional enough for me; no need to waste energy hating the Canucks anymore.

A true #1 centreman, a young coach that actually pans out, a real #1 goalie, a young #1dman to build around, and generally a team whose best players give a crap. This Canucks team has all the things that we Flames fans always seem to covet.

I'm sure the hate will come back eventually... but for now, I'm just mostly jealous.

I'm a fan of hockey and the Flames are my home team, but I can cheer for and enjoy good hockey from other teams. Being a fan of hockey pretty much means you can't help but hate an organization like the Oilers that has ruined the careers and potential of so many young players, but it makes it possible to cheer for whoever else you see playing great hockey.

While I agree with this, I currently hate Vegas more than the Canucks.

I hate Vegas too, but it doesn't even come close to how much I loathe the Canucks and Oilers. IMO, cheering for Canucks or Oilers at any point (other than to cheer for them to get worse) is blasphemous as a Flames fan.

Hope Vegas continues to curb stomp those crappy Canucks!

bandwagoning other Canadian teams is lame IMO. More fun to wish them as much misery as us.

Rogers Place was already half-built when the McDavid lottery happened. If they were going to rig it in favour of a team looking for a new arena, McDavid would be a Coyote right now.

Yes, a business with business owners. Who’s income/investments rely heavily on how their individual team does.
