Default Off-season Flames predictions thread

This isn't what you want to see happen, this is what you think WILL happen with player movement, coaches, whatever fits in regards to the Flames.

Again, PREDICTIONS haha

1. I predict the Flames trade for Hall's rights and sign him
2. I predict Gaudreau gets traded to Philly
3. I predict Hanifin gets traded to New Jersey
4. I predict the Flames get a RHD from Buffalo (Montour, Miller or Ristolainen)
5. I predict the Flames re-sign Talbot and run with the same goalie tandem
6. I predict all the Flames UFA Dmen leave in free agency
7. I predict the Flames acquire Josh Anderson
8. I predict the Flames hire Boudreau to be the head coach

Prediction, projecting, all the same IMO but yeah.

1. Gaudreau, Mangiapane to Philly for Patrick, Rubstov, 2021 1st (Lotto Protected), Ghostibehere

2. Gio (33% retained) to Toronto for Kapanen, D prospect and cap balance move

3. Gerard Gallant is hired as HC. Then cleans out the coaching staff and hires his own

4. Flames sign Hall 5 years 7.7

5. Flames sign Sami Vatanen 3 years, 3.2

6. Rittich and Backlund are traded to Buffalo for Ullmark and Middlestadt. Ullmark becomes the #1 in Calgary at camp

7. Ryan is dealt for a pick, Janko gone.

Hall-Patrick-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Monahan-Kapanen
Lucic-Bennett-Dube
TBD- Rubstov- Middlestadt

Andersson-Hanifin
Valimaki-Vatanen
Mackey-Ghost
Kylinton

Ullmark
Pto backup

Draft:
Flames pick at 19: Amirov

Young fast strong dynamic and big. Cap friendly too in my estimation.

Well, I didn't predict what the Gaudreau or Hanifin returns would be so how good it is would depend largely on that haha

I wouldn't even mind the same goalie tandem. They're not the reason why they bowed out when they did. Goaltending sunk them in game 6, but held its end of the bargain in every other game. Get a team playing and forechecking consistently in front of them and they don't have to face an elimination situation to begin with.

Also like the Boudreau hire. The way the Ducks played under him is exactly what I'd like to see with this team. Basically the way they played/rocked the Jets, or similar to that. Too bad they strayed from that blueprint in Rd1.

I know fans are out for blood right now, but I think a more patient approach would be better and I suspect that’s what Treliving will do.

Gaudreau and Monahan stay. We sign Taylor Hall and roll with effectively two offensive top lines. Harder to match up against and spreads the heat around. Johnny snd Monny aren’t the “go to guys” anymore. Just two players that can help you win.

Rittich is traded and we bring in another young guy to roll with Talbot. Georgiev or Murray.

50/50 on Ward returning. I could see either option happening.

At least 1 “shake up the room” trade. Ryan, Hanifin, Kylington, maybe even Backlund.

Defense looks vastly different. Huge roles up for grabs for Valimaki and Andersson. I think the defense will be much younger and a little sketchy on paper, but hopefully better than expected.

Next summer is when Gaudreau finally gets moved east for a standard package of a 1st, roster player, top prospect.

Something like:

Hall - Monahan - Lindholm
Gaudreau - Bennett - Tkachuk
Dube - Backlund - Mangiapane
Lucic - Gawdin - Rieder

Hanifin - Andersson
Giordano - xxx
Valimaki - xxx
Mackey

Talbot
Georgiev

1. Neither Gaudreau nor Monahan will be traded.

2. Geoff Ward gets the full time coaching job.

3. Neither Hamonic nor Brodie return.

4. The Flames will roll with the same goaltending duo as last year.

5. Flames will sign Taylor Hall to a 6 year deal worth 9M per.

6. Mark Jankowski will not be back, Toby Reider will.

Have to admit, this one is the Flames to a T.

With chatter all year about how they learned stuff and things from the Dallas series and the radio guys hyping us all up all over again.

Unless Hallsy turns out to be the saviour/missing piece they needed all along.

I think I'll take the year off if this comes to fruition. And this prediction is likely a lot closer than any other....

I can't take another season of wishy washy Flames (we are all best friends in the room) BS with another mediocre 1st round pounding added in.

I think they’ll do something with Toronto, who will also be looking to make an impactful trade. Likely something similar as they tried last year in addressing their need for defense.

I imagine Ward gets the interim tag removed and Gaudreau/Monahan remain with the brass stating they had exhaustive searches and productive discussions with near deals, etc.

I wonder if MAF may find his way here in light of recent 2020 childish antics.

I think this will happen, but I think it’s less about Hall being a savior and more about Calgary having two “top” scoring lines.

Instead of Gaudreau and Monahan being the go to guys, you now have two lines for better match ups.

It is one of two pathways I can certainly see the Flames taking. Awfully similar to their 2016 offseason. And yes, it's bad.
