And again as I've already stated, despite everyone being down on Johnny right now, if he went to Philly he more than likely leads that team in scoring by a long shot, especially on a line with Giroux/Voracek or Girous/Konecny.

You need a #1 centre who plays a 200 foot game in today’s NHL or your chances of contending are slim.

That’s Couturier. He’s their most valuable player in their quest for a Cup.

He’s not being traded for a one dimensional winger who is trending downwards and is horrific in the playoffs.

They wouldn’t make that trade if Johnny was coming off an 80 point season and a decent playoff.

The Flames need an elite can't miss star player like Lafraniere. Could the Flames put a compelling enough package together?

They would still have a 200ft center because they would just slide Giroux back to the middle, and Johnny is terrible in the playoffs because he's got to carry the mail by himself in Calgary. In Philly there would be plenty of forwards to take the focus off of him.

WHY DOES PHILLY WANT TO DO THIS!?

For the love of God can we consider the other team here?

You're Philadelphia, facing a flat cap situation and your #1 centre who is an elite 200 ft player has your team in a position to be a cup contender and makes 4.3 per, why in the #### are you even considering trading him?

Maddening to keep seeing this suggestion. I honestly can't think of anything that would entice Philly to make that trade, take on almost 2.5 million in cap for a significantly worse player.

That's it. Highest pick after those three were Jack Skille at 7.

And Barker may have sucked, but they got both Nick Leddy and Kim Johnsson for him.

Steinberg through out Florida and Huberdeau as the type of lateral trade they may want to think about for Johnny. I could see something like that.

I've answered this many times in multiple threads. I can't help it if you don't read it.

Ahhh you love your Russians.
Though in this case I agree. Denisenko looks slick.

I wonder what you'd have to do to swap Huberdeau and Barkov for Johnny and Monny.

Not as ridiculous as it seems (I know, I know, Johnny and Monny are both third liners blah blah blah). But I'd be curious. Florida is in constant freefall. They have no GM (though this likely would have been easier with Tallon).

Aaaaanyways that's enough dreaming for me.

Huberdeau for Gaudreau I do in a heartbeat though.

I do, and we need more like Denisenko and Amirov more than the Nichishkins or the Vancouver one.

Total team players who have electric skill and grit and 200ft games.

Barkov is just a lot better than Monahan. A true #1 elite two-way centre.
I mean you can try - why not. And I would add a ton to get him.
I would do Johnny+Tkachuk for Huberdeau+Barkov.
Barkov would be the best centre this team has had since Nieuwy/Gilmour. And by a fair margin.

Yeah that's what I like about both of them - good all around players that have a bit of bite to their game. Denisenko can be downright nasty.

Dare to dream - Denisenko-Barkov-Amirov.

But why would the Panthers? Nevermind that both Barkov and Huberdeau are both better all around players, they also cost less than Gaudreau and Monahan together - and they are a very budget conscious team.

They have a lot of issues, but swapping out their best two players (by far) for two lesser players that make more money isn't going to solve those issues. They need defense badly. If you take Matheson off their hands and offer up an real blueliner, I suppose that get get a conversation going, but it would be really hard to see.

Right. Which is why I said Johnny+Tkachuk.
I agree, and stated, that they wouldn't do Johnny+Monahan.
