Same here. They started strong and then came a couple of stupid penalties by Looch and they came unhinged. Lost their composure and started feeling sorry for themselves.
They are not mentally tough enough.

After years & years of retooling, I think it's time to come clean and stop hiding from the reality that this rebuild didn't work. Gio is DONE as an elite defenseman, and is only going to decline from here. Johnny can't get it done in the playoffs and Monahan/Lindholm are overrated to say the least. Keep some players like Bennett, Dube, Mangiapane, Backlund, Brodie, etc and trade away the guys who completely disappear come playoff time year after year. Oh and GET A REAL #1 GOALIE.

Honestly... the flames are who we thought they were...
We said going in that bennett cannot be your best player if you expect to advance and lo and behold, he was, that means every top 6 player #### the bed.
And that’s the way it goes
We agree. Cheers!

Deeply flawed team. No true number one centre, and the one we have has a good shot and that's about it. Tandem goalie approach. Winger with elite talent but undersized. Slow. Number one D-man is turning 37 in a couple months. Interim coach. Dearth of prospects. I really don't know what the next move is for this team but this version has shown us what it is.
Goodbye flames. I look forward to big changes. This team made me feel embarrassed to be a fan tonight. Shake it up please. Get players who are passionate and multidimensional.
This year's lost stung less than last year. For me, at least.

Ward can resign in his presser.
Worst coaching decision in game for then Flames maybe in their history.
Call the time out, settle them down. Don’t put a goalie who the players have no confidence in, who has been pulled now in 5 of his last 8 games, to try and calm the team down? I blame Talbot for none of those 3 goals.
Rittich gets the loss, as he should. He can go away. There’s a reason coaches have not trusted him to play in playoffs. Flames did their best to not let Dallas shoot on him. His 3 goals were beyond pathetic, enabled by a coach who thinks he’s smarter then he is.

Just not a very good team. Yeah Ward screwed up tonight but overall this team always had too many holes everywhere, including a core that really can't take their game to another level when it matters most.
Part of the problem is that this team is always average, so no top 3 picks to really land franchise players to build around. So you have some good/decent players who can't compete with elite teams, good enough in the regular season to make the playoffs but light years away from contending or being close to a contender.
Need to make some massive moves because clearly this ain't working. Not going to list all the holes or problems because there are too many. Lots of work to be done, probably by a new GM with a new coach. And that might just be the start of it.

It was goaltending that lost us this game. It was goaltending that got us to this game. Our team does not appear to be good enough. I can’t ignore the evidence any longer. The team isn’t good. Some good pieces... no great ones though. That’s the problem. We do not have a single game breaker, a guy who can take over.

Oh well. Time to move on..... here is what I hope happens.
Leave Gio unprotected at the expansion draft.
Trade Johnny.
Resign Talbot, let Rittich go.
Keep Bennett forever.
