Coaching and a goalie. Hasn't found one of either.

Since we are going to lose anyways because we refuse to shoot on the scrub we should have an empty net for the entire 3rd. I'd watch!

Also, is this not exactly a reverse of the Vancouver series game 6?
Vancouver jumps out to a lead and then it’s all flames. My memory is pretty fuzzy from that night but it’s just history repeating a different way.

When Ward put Rittich in, I thought he was doing a Keenan move. But I guess I am wrong

Also Terry from Fubar cursed this team. They brought him aboard in the last half of 19 IIRC and they've been terrible since.

Shame goaltending wasn't better but loved seeing the d activate like the beginning of the 2018 season. Team has scored 3 already quickly so hopefully they can come back.

At least Talbot is in. But Ward has to shoulder all the blame for the worst single game decision I can recall in a long time.

I actually thought he was being pretty pro-flames with the "hey you're going to get a couple of power plays, there's still hope" thing.
I mean he's right, too. If they play the whole third like they did the first five minutes of the first, they could do it. I don't think they will, but they've actually proved in this game that it's possible.

They'd have to actually care for that to happen. Although, I do think Johnny looked pissed off for the back half of that period.

Er, if you can't change that, then... you lose. The whole idea is to change that.
Anyway I'll keep watching because this will either be an epic, amazing comeback or continue being funny.

Rittich finishes his playoff career with the Flames with a .667 save percentage.

Remember when people were comparing Monahan to Toews? Lol. This team will continue to be the masters of mediocrity if we continue to trick ourselves into believing Monahan and Backlund are legit 1-2 centres. I’m not even sure Monahan is a good number 2 on a contending team at this point in his career. But this has been the Flames M.O. for almost 2 decades now, build a team with high end wingers and average centres. Monahan, Langkow, Conroy, Jokinen, Hudler. Mediocre.

Interesting to even bring back Talbot for this. Mentally for both goalies, that can't be good after what ended up happening.
Ward definitely with a strong reason there why he can't man the bench any longer.

This loss tonight is on Ward. Not the players, not Talbot, not Rittich but Geoff freaking Ward.
The team came out flying, got a 3-0 lead, and responded well in the first after the 3-1 goal.
Then the 3-2 goal wasn’t great but there was traffic, and the 3-3 goal was unlucky, but you could see the panic in his face when he pulled Talbot. That wasn’t a smart rationale decision but a emotional panicked decision that just deflated the team when they needed calm.
I guarantee that Talbot doesn’t let in any of the last three goals if Ward just calls a timeout at 3-3 to calm the team down. Once Ward pulled Talbot though he lost this team, you cant embarrass the guy that had carried the team up to that point.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Ward went full Patrick Roy and said he’d never play for Ward again.

Seems like Bowness figured out that a timeout can regroup your players without yanking the goalie.
|
Bowness didn't have an experienced goaltender as a backup with Bishop hurt. He had to play Khudobin.

We've all watched the Flames for MANY, MANY years.
We know this 3rd period is going to be boring and uneventful when it should be balls to the wall desperation.
Prove me wrong.
