What I don't really understand is why the Flames D have seemed panicky and indecisive under Dallas's forecheck pressure, and why they haven't figured out a way to overcome it. I mean, just chasing the D men around in their zone can't be an unbeatable strategy. Also, our D are supposed to be good at moving the puck, and yet they seem to be faltering at that when pressured, as though they don't know where to go.
Dallas deserves credit for being a tough team with a lot of playoff experience and some very good players, but it's confusing that our D has their puck moving abilities contained so effectively and easily.

IMO, it's because they don't have any options. The only 2 outlets are behind the net to the other D, or up to the halfwall to a forward standing still. Both allow the forecheck to continue pressuring.
If the Dallas D are going to pinch the halfwall EVERY TIME, try some plays that will trap them. But no, the Flames just keep doing the exact same thing.
The Flames continually pass to players standing still in the defensive zone. That is a recipe for disaster.

I think the D are too slow deciding what they're going to do and by then Dallas has the forwards covered or it's a risky pass because the forwards are already in flight. So many times the pass across the offensive blue line is so slow, Dallas adjusts easily.
Just get that W and prolong the funeral prosession. Let's see some desperate, high energy hockey and either go down foaming and frothing at the mouth or steamroller them heading into game 7.
No tippy toeing around this game. Its time to put up or shut up.
Come out with at least as much GAF as the fans have. If they lose, they lose, I suppose, but they better go down swinging or I am going to be one pissed off fan.

Very excited to watch a hockey game tonight, no matter the outcome! (well, kind of just saying that to take the edge off the loss should it happen)
That said, I'd love to see a big win and I actually feel pretty confident they'll get it.
Ward has his work cut out for him trying to come up with an answer for the speed and mojo that the Dallas D are playing with....since game 2 they look better than any D core I've seen in the Covid Cup thus far.
I'm going to predict 4-2 Flames....Johnny, Bennet(2) and Lucic. Talbot stands on his head again and there will be enough late defensive lapses to drive us all to the brink tonight.
Come on, Flames! I still believe. I’ll call for a 3-1 win, with Bennett, Monahan and Andersson scoring. Regardless of the result, I hope we show some fight and don’t go quietly into the night.

We had some success coaching in Midget last year by moving the forward on the near side off the wall and towards the corner, the center covering the slot, and the far winger up high near the dmen.
Opposition would seal, but the puck wasn't coming up the wall any more it was going to the face off dot and then sent wide to the far winger, dumped out, or chipped to the center.
If a team is going to overload on the pinch you have to catch them on it, and then they'll lay off.
Continue doing what you're doing and they'll just get blood thirsty.

Maybe with us on the brink some calls will go our way. Power play needs to take advantage of a weak goalie.
Dallas plays a nice structure so getting through 5 on 5 is next to impossible. I dislike dump and chase but we have no option. And their defence will only really be looking out for Sam and Looch on the forecheck.
Here is what I am hoping to see:
Giordano plays like the reigning Norris trophy winner and a captain
Shoot the puck when they enter the zone while the others crash the net, stop being cute
Working at 100% capacity every single shift, back checking and forechecking, take short shifts if they can't handle it
More emotional stuff after the whistle, lets see some more face washing and spraying the other teams goalie, the more invested we are the better
Stay out of the penalty box
Just win Flames, one period at a time.

I really want the Flames to win but the performance over the last two games against a team that struggled through the round robin makes me wonder who is going to show up.
Frankly, if I had one ask, i'd ask that if the Flames are going to crap the bed that they do it early so we can all get some sleep. Thank NHL for thinking we in the west give two craps about the east teams. 6PM MDT was perfect before.
