Another example of people oversimplifying and mis-representing the perspective of others to minimize a countering view.
That's not debate or discussion.
If you want to actually discuss then start with your view point and be willing to hear others without minimizing them. Most people that have defended BT have cited specific examples of the good work he's done, while recognizing where he's come up short. Everyone can evaluate and decide on their own where it nets out, and it's valid to say he's not the guy. And it's valid to say they should stick with him.
But what's poor form is taking an opposing view and boiling it down to something that no longer resembles what people actually say or think.

Darryl Sutter is a brilliant coach too. Not sure how his relationship is with the organization though.

Have I ever said you should have "management stability at all costs" and even if "management isn't getting anything done"?
Nope.
Again that's you taking someone's position and simplifying it to support your view.
I view management stability as important and I think one of the problems of this franchise has been lack of that.
That doesn't mean I believe in that "at all costs".
So no I have not preached that.
I would stick with BT and I would change the core. Because I think he's made more good decisions than bad ones.
People are welcome to disagree.

I'd love to see Monahan and Lindholm play without Gaudreau.
Lindholm looked more effective without Gaudreau and I wonder if the top line is relying too much on Gaudreau to carry the puck and make the play.

Didn't the Flames miss the playoffs in 92 and 95?

The Flames should trade Gaudreau at the draft:
-2 years left on a good contract, which has a lot of value given 2 years of flat cap
-his age is such that he’s probably reached his scoring max, and
-he is too scared to engage in the battles necessary to help his team.
Sadly, based on what Freidman has said about Hall wanting to win, I bet he’s more likely to choose the Avalanche than us.

I mean.. maybe it would be a nice change. Nothing else seems to be working - I believe it worked with Benn and Seguin earlier this season.
Also Dubois in Columbus in the playoffs.
Don't do it all the time but it isn't the worst tactic to light a fire under someone's ass.

I might be mistaken but I thought I remember someone say that Brent or one of his brothers said on the radio he was hoping to hear from the Flames either before they hired Peters or after they fired him but never did.

These are the guys, and you can't really afford to bench them as the alternatives won't cut it either, so hopefully they figure it out fast

If Johnny plays large minutes next game then nothing has changed. Sadly I think nothing will change.

Yup, I also wouldn't be super surprised if Treliving doesn't want to bring in his future replacement.
Sutter was a horrible GM but it is a bit of a risk for Treliving. Even though, I am probably wrong.. it is human nature.

I’ve never been a fan of calling guys out in the media. It seems cheap and gutless to me. If Ward is doing it behind closed doors that’s good enough for me.

Such a different level of frustrating from last playoffs. We won the first game then realized we were way outmatched by crybaby Mackinnon and the media darling Makar. I guess the GAF meter of bennett and the invisibility of the top line was similar to this year.
The narrative last year was you need to build a team for the regular season, then build a different one for the playoffs. So, we brought in Lucic (amazing for the playoffs), bennet has stepped up and we have Dube contributing scoring and grit. Brought in rinaldo but he hasn't been a big factor. Did we build a team for the playoffs? What would any of us say if we heard rieder was on the top line for a playoff game?!!
Dallas has the talent, no question. Heiskanen and Klingberg have been lights out. I honestly haven't seen that much of Benn and Seguin, despite the hype.
What makes me want to rip my hair out is that this seems like a winnable series. On paper Dallas is the better team. But they aren't clicking on all cylinders going into the playoffs (much like us last year).
Life as a flames fan:
Game 1- We played great, this is a winnable series!
Game 2- Lost, not a big deal. Didn't play great. Dallas bounced back, to be expected. Move on and get game 3.
Game 3- Wow, why are we playing so horrible, where is the effort? But we stole the game, that'll crush Dallas and give us momentum. Right?
Game 4- Admittedly I didn't see much of it. 960 said we played better, CP indicated otherwise. But could have gone either way until we gave up the goal with 11 seconds left. We'll come out hard in game 5, right? No excuse not to.
Game 5- Terrible in first period. Inexcusable. Have some gdamn pride. Didn't see second period. Poor play by Gio in the third late when we needed pressure. Talbot had the angle on Benn. Then Gio slides low (if anything the shot was going high) and costs us 2 min in PP time.
Not going to get into the refs, but completely changing how the game was called from game 4 to game 5 was infuriating. But, both teams had to deal with that I guess.
I am f'ing livid. Is it too much to ask for the team that showed up in game 1 (and the last minute of each game we lost) to show up!!?
Best players are not doing their job, end of story.
I'm not giving up and the series isn't over. The flames need a good kick in the *ss today and tomorrow. If the flames from game 1 and the WPG series show up we take game 6 and gain momentum. If stars win this series, game 4 will be painted as the soul crushing game for the flames.
Another performance like tonight and core changes need to be made.

His main job is to score goals though and the fact is, I don’t think Monahan has even had a scoring chance in this series that I would consider a dangerous chance. If Gaudreau is unable to get him the puck in a prime scoring chance in front of the net, then he needs to either start creating his own quality shot or create chances for his wingers like most #1 centers.
Watching Bo Horvat’s growth in this playoffs just shows me how stunted Monahan’s growth has truly become. Same draft, similar draft positions. Yet Horvat has become a game breaking leader whereas Monahan has been relegated as a very distant 3rd best center on his team. Not good enough and Gaudreau hasn’t been good enough either. Both have always struggled in these types of games/series and it hasn’t changed one iota.
