Scott Oake said he only got the terminal diagnosis in July. That horrible disease worked quickly to take him. RIP.

Beyond his amazing impact on hockey, everything I've read is that he was just a good person. The world is short of that.

Sad news indeed.

Gwg in 1987 Canada Cup with Hawerchuk acting as the decoy on the right side.
Very underrated player.
Rest In Peace.

The tribute at intermission was awesome. Could he ever dangle and had a deadly accurate shot.

One of the first Jets I knew as a young hockey fan growing up in Winnipeg. Thanks for everything, Dale.

clearly an underrated player and from what you hear, a wonderful person. Brings back 80's Smythe division memories.

Far too young for his time to be up. He really was overshadowed in the Smythe Division of those days. The Jets won 9 games the year before he joined them and he put up 103 points and they were a 500 team the next year. RIP to a true gentlemen of the game.

It sticks in my head seeing him be “delivered” to the Jets in a Brinks armoured truck after he was drafted. Great player.
