I don't think it was realistic for the CFL to play this year anyway

The Liberals probably believe that CFL fans are not in their voter demographic. So while they're salad shooting millions and billions at everyone that might vote for them, the CFL a decades old Canadian institution that employs 900 people across the country, encourages youth sport and gives kids a chance to live out a dream of playing a pro sport is told to suck hind tit.

#### you Trudeau. Liberals can kiss my ass. As mentioned above, this fraudulent government is throwing money around left right and centre, but to help a truly Canadian institution they can’t help. It was a LOAN the CFL was asking for, not even a free hand out. What a joke this country is.

Maybe Murray Edwards and the CSEC could provide that interest free loan to the league (that they are a part of) and we can stop blaming Trudeau for every thing we don't like?

Or RBC could sponsor the CFL for the next decade by using half their CEO’s summer bonus. There’s plenty of money out there but no one will step up.

I would expect that the CFL will likely come back as a 6 team league, and we'll lose a couple of franchises because of it.

To me Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary and Edmonton are stable and profitable.

Brayley has been trying to sell the Lions forever and they're losing a ton of money, he might take an easy way out and kill the Lions instead of trying to find a buyer.

Ottawa is relatively stable, as is Hamilton. MLSE might have to be convinced to keep that team in Toronto. Montreal has new owners, but they're pretty unstable right now.

I would expect with the season canceled the CFLPA is going to push for full contract releases to that players can try to find jobs in the States instead of sitting here not getting paid or getting assistance.

In 2021, have a season, broadcast it on TV for the ad revenue. Let the nation participate in a nation wide 50/50 for every game, week, etc. Half the money goes to the players, half to lottery winners (maybe split the pot a few ways to give everyone some hope).

Ambrosie muffed this from the start in all aspects. It was always going to be a tough go, but it needed a hard numbers hard negotiation guy like the aforementioned Cohon to take charge.

Ambrosie and all his socially and politically correct buzzwords and stunts like a Euro and Mexican combine, just never came across as a strong fit when it came down to the financials of the league. Granted, unprecedented times for sure but he was lost and to be honest, his underlings in the league of for are likely not qualified or paid that much to be qualified to offer much help on the financial side. Montreal was hemorrhaging money last year and his biggest markets in TO and Vancouver were even floppier than before.

I do wonder who does step in to ensure viability of the league? Is this finally the NFL's turn to come in and take over the league?

I'd be fine with it, and the NFL IMO would keep the integrity and history and structure etc if the CFL. I'd trust them, and only them, to do that. Anyone else looking to swoop in and play league owner, you'd question their commitment to the long term, or changing rules or something, especially if they aren't Canadian, and I don't see any Canadian company stepping up to find the whole league.

NFL would get content for its TV packages in the summer, and It would turn the CFL into a bit more into a feeder league for the NFL, which again it basically is already, just a bit clunky in its execution right now.

CFL would get better players out of US Colleges too, as those players would know that the NFL is associated with the league so it removes that unknown factor of the CFL, and of course the Rock-owned XFL and AAF before that.

This honestly probably plays a large part of it. The places the league are struggling in, are the areas the Liberals have the most support/focus towards. Outside of the prairie provinces, the CFL isn't relevant at all.

The CFL may look very different next year. This probably kyboshes any Maritimes expansion, and McMahon Stadium likely isn't going to be getting any much needed renovation/new venue replacement for the foreseeable future.

If things fall apart enough financially with the league and administration, having the NFL is something that would be a life saver for the league. As you said, it may raise it's stock since it's officially associated with the NFL itself, rather than being a pseudo feeder league. Aspiring players in the states would take the league more seriously, since the transfer between the leagues should be a lot more formal and fluid. As well casual Canadian fans that the league isn't able to gravitate to may take it more seriously as well. Growing the fanbase has been one of the biggest weaknesses.

It probably won't help in Toronto since that's a market that only wants the top leagues, so will want NFL only and nothing less. But in Vancouver and Montreal, it could make those teams a bit more attractive in those markets.

I would be totally fine with the NFL taking over the CFL but I just don't think they would be overly interested. Since NFL Europe the NFL hasn't show any inclination to send money to leagues like the AAF or XFL. Unlike those leagues you can argue that the CFL at least doesn't lose money.

The CFL also already has strong TV numbers, shiny new stadiums, and local support from a ticketing standpoint. Way less risk than any of the other/new startups IMO.

Absolutely there's less risk but do NFL owners really care about the CFL? Are power players like Jerry Jones sitting with other owners discussing how they should buy the CFL? I expect the owners have hundreds of other topics to discuss higher on their agenda that render the CFL pretty irrelevant. I'm not saying it's impossible but I just don't see the NFL looking at that during a time when they are scrambling to get their own product on the field.

They're probably not confident that this loan would ever be paid back. It's great to blame the government, but the harsh reality is that there is no money coming from the corporate sector to do this either. A couple of these franchises were in trouble without Covid, and there are really no buyers and very little interest.
