The Flames 2 best games were 1 and 2 as the "away" team.
We'll win Game 5 on Tuesday and then finish it off with another win in Game 6.

The Backlund line's really gotten kicked in with Rieder on it. I don't want to blame Rieder, but I think they're just missing size without Tkachuk. I'd really like to see, at the very least, Quine up there as he's got more size and cycling ability than Rieder does. if not Quine, then blender it up somehow. We need the Backlund line to be our best line.

The Flames did play better anyways. It was good to see the first line going more, and the team is showing spirit in these games. I do wish that they would stay on the attack when they've got a lead though. It feels as though every time they get a lead they stop being aggressive and become content just to clear their own zone rather than keeping the play in Dallas's end.

The prevent defence worked against Winnipeg but just isn't working against Dallas. They need to adjust.

Ok, based on what I’ve heard I’m going to be optimistic:
- Talbot playing well
- Bishop is not healthy, Stars backup has been ok,
But he is not Bishop
- bennet, dube and lucic have been lights out
- Gaudreau/Mony were better this game. So if they continue to improve next game could be the flames best game. Just need to forget the heartbreaker tonight. 960 wondering if Elias is either injured or overworked from playing PP, 5 on 5 ant killing 7 frickin penalties today.
- bottom line is we need to go to war. Best of three. This series is winnable. Game 5 is SO big.

The biggest problem I see (aside from top line scoring at 5v 5), is our inability to break out effectively.
The play is always defensemen throwing it to the half boards, where the wingers try to chip it out along the boards (often blindly). Dallas' defense reads it and pinches and picks up the turnovers at our blue line.
I don't know what the solution is, but what they're doing now just isn't working.

I'm just happy that the Flames can't blow a 3-1 series lead now. I hate it when that happens!

I'm not sure where the Flames, as an organization, go after this season. We seem to be stuck in limbo again. Nonetheless, I'm just going to try to enjoy the next couple of games (win or lose).
|
Agreed on them being in limbo, if they don't win this series and have some of the star players take the lead. Lots of questions to be faced at the end of this season if they bow out without having the leaders step up.
Gio being off his game is a big part of that. If he was playing like last year, this series would be very much in the Flames' favour, and whether it is due to age suddenly catching up or something else it is tough to be missing a Norris defenceman.
The strange thing about the questions around the team is that they seem to all be focused on the core top players while the next tier of players are making it look like they're ready for more.

Good play, then, to isolate Dube. Hard to defend that point shot without a stick in the shooting lane.

It's tough when Giordano, your team's reigning Norris trophy winner, is the 7th (at best) defenceman in the series.

I'd like to see Stone come in for Forbort on the third pair. -3 on the night he has really struggled. Stone can kill penalties and take over for Gio on the 2nd PP with his shot .

I think this game has a entirely different outcome if pucks were cleared in the end. Rebound control on that ice must've been a nightmare. But this was only a result of officiating.
Putting Talbot in that position and hanging him out to dry against a desperate team and add in officiating you get a helluva lot more shots obviously.
The call at the end needing to be made by Toronto still has me scratching my head....being announced by the ref minutes after thr interference call on Talbot.
If the refs are on speed dial i wanna know why 7 powerplays on several several several missed calls aren't being evenly distributed?? I know all to well had thr roles been reversed we wouldn't have been the recipient of all the opportunity.
Frustrating exasperated is all i can imagine the players must be after that. I hope the whistles get put away next game and let the team left standing win
I really want to see a follow-up to Benn Lucic.
Man Lucic has delivered.....and Bennett and Dube learning for the future is phenomenal.
Well...I know we deserved better but think the outcome can be different next game. We don't need to change allot....except maybe Buddy in for Rinaldo.

I'm not that impressed with the forwards on Dallas. Their defencemen impress me with how they all have some offensive flair. That is the difference in this series.

I had to look it up.
Apr 15, 2017 vs Ducks, L (3-2) (The one where we came back from down 2-0, then thanks to some Perry-related bull#### they score on a late PP to win.)
April 17, 2017 vs Ducks L (5-4 OT) Yeah.
April 13, 2019 vs Avalanche L (3-2 OT) Only caught like part of the first period because I had to get to the airport. But I guess that was apparently enough to doom the results of this one?
Then of course every loss from this years run, plus the series win vs the Jets.
1 series win and 6 losses that are unanimously heartbreaking/soul-crushing in nature. FML

Dallas has a good defence that makes up for a very shaky goalie. Need to get more shots. In the third and OT we were outshot something like 35-9.

You make it sound like this is new stuff.
Calgary seems to need to learn from something every game they lose, and some they win.
When is class over, and when will they graduate if ever?
The Flames have been gifted two very easy opponents, yet have looked quite ordinary.
