That can't possibly be true. Perhaps if they're counting both the round robin games and the play-in round, it could be getting close.
Checking NHL.com, they have the Washington-Islanders stats from today but not the Flames-Stars yet: This year, in the postseason, there have been a total of 348 goals scored in 66 games (so, 357 in 67 if you include the Flames game).
Last year, through the entire playoffs, there were 485 goals scored in 87 games.
On a goals per game basis, last year's postseason was higher-scoring: 5.33 this year vs. 5.57 last year. It's just that they've already played so many games this year because of the round robin and play-in round.
If you think about it, that shouldn't be that surprising. Because each round of the playoffs has half as many series as the round before, there are more series played in the first round of the playoffs than in the final three rounds combined. This year, we basically get 2 first rounds.
In a normal playoff year, there is a maximum of 105 total games that could be played (15 rounds x 7 games). By the end of this round, there will have been a maximum of 108 total games that could have been played (12 round robin + 8 rounds x 5 games + 8 rounds x 7 games).
